$50 for two exhaust hangers…..this hobby is getting me in a lot of trouble lol

Finally after +3 years of looking at the wrong tail pipes, I finally spent the big bucks and got the right ones. Took a little time to figure out the hardware as I didn’t have any. After receiving the correct hanger brackets and tips I was able to make a clean tight installation.

Well as Arne Saknussemm used to say, for those that come after me…. Put the bumper brackets on the bumper first before BEFORE you mount the brackets to the car……. Oh and watch out for the giant gila monsters!

With a minimal amount of cussing and persuasion with the brackets and hangars to get the tips to speak the same language…..the exhaust tips and gas tank is in.

Since I skinned a new roof I needed to drill out new chrome moulding mount holes. I found these to be 1/2 inch from the outside painted surface. That should help others in the same dilemma. The new clips I got didn’t work as they had no spring action due in part to the clips being too thick AND the die that cut them was worn or not set up correctly as the slit reliefs were not cut all the way through. This job took a lot of time refitting the glass and making sure all the tolerances were correct as there are three mating parts and one with a variable dimension (the rope butyl rubber). I made a die to help drill consistently. Here are some pics before the glass goes on final assembly.

First time in almost 4 yesrs the tail lights are back in. This is the original finish. The end cap was originally partially silver with a sand type finish. I didn’t care for that so I didn’t reproduce it.

Final fitment…..I’ve had this window in and out so many times that if you put all the pictures back to back and played them real fast with really shitty guitar music it would require an X rating.
