1970 Plymouth Sport Satellite from Junk to......

Got some good advice form you guys here at FBBO on installation of the headliner. Really appreciate it! Made the job easier to tackle. Actually a lot easier than I thought. I waited until the heat of the day to do the stretching @100F. I used the Weldwood Landau contact cement. I believe that stuff made the job! I used the stuff right out of the can and used those metal acid brushes to apply it rather than using a spray gun. I believe thats the way to go such that there is no overspray concerns and no gun maintenance.

She’s tight as my snare drum at 100F!

Looks awesome - nice job!!!

finalizing my dash installation preparation. Purchased a new speedometer cable. Says it would fit a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. Um I don’t think so……. The triviality of dealing with companies that either don’t know **** or don’t care but probably both…On hold again.

To complete the headline I fabricated up some rear sails. Using plastic sign material works BUT since the panel needs to curve you have to make sure the corrugation doesn’t create creases that will show up when curved. It’s an orientation thing as it has a grain so to speak.
One screw holds the quarter piece in tight because of the rigidity of the material. Overall quite pleased at this fab.

I removed the surface rust on the ID plate with a rust remover then primed it. I painted it white and the numbers bleed through really well. I like the way it came out. I might paint it the body color like the factory when I am doing other parts. But for now it’s in a place that I can’t loose it. Small parts can be difficult to keep track of when the whole car is dismantled…..

The stock emblem had most of the paint missing. It’s a chrome plated part that is painted. Not a good idea for longevity but then again it’s not plastic! Not easy to mask prime and paint with automotive paint base and clear.

That emblem turned out nice. What paint codes did you for the red, white and blue?

The KTM battery died, the FZR600 needs a carb overhaul, the Honda Met has the engine out and I am still restoring the Satellite. I need more space lol…

Dash finally going in after a complete rebuild and color change.

Finally found the original antenna base! Fabricated a neoprene washer to protect the paint. Keeping track of all the part is not trivial.

It’s official now lol. It’s visible through the Air Grabber trap door.

Well after 3-1/2 years the rebuilt dash is in. Huge milestone. This now clears the way for both the electrical work and door installations to move forward. Finally!! Feels so good.

In a limited shop space, I find myself often spending as much time or more reconfiguring and reorganizing my garage to do different tasks. Take re-orienting my car to wash the interior. I spent more time moving and organizing than washing. I still like what I see though and having the satisfaction it brings…..

Are you not painting the inside areas body colour - Green/Orange?
Nope just 3 layers of epoxy and what ever overspray you see in Orange. The trunk is sprayed however. I just don’t see why anyone would waste their time painting it then covering it up.
