1970 Sublime - Poll (hey I got it right this time lol) Vote on the best graphics concept

1970 Sublime Sport Satellite: What graphic design do you like best?

I am going to paint my 70 RR gray I believe, wife wants it dark (think midnite) blue which is ok, but I think gray is nicer. I will say this up front, painting sublime (or any variant of it) is trickier than it looks. You absolutely must have the exact number of coats on everything, if you spray something with more coats it gets darker (looks like a bruise). I painted my Cuda sublime and had to do a repair, ended up repainting the whole car.

I voted #2 for black rockers just because I did that to my roadrunner back in the late 70's. I still like how it looked. :)

#1 is my choice unless (as mentioned previously) you were going to make it a "tribute". The other graphics just look cheesy imo. We have a local car that is Hemi Orange and done like #5. I find it somewhat lacking with only the large Plymouth decal. If you are going to do, then do it....just don't do it halfway. Jmo

Well, as you've said, its your car and your decision. If it were me, I'd "tribute" the hell out of it and basically make a it RR because you know thats what you really want. Same car, parts all fit. The purists will be able to tell from the VIN that it isn't a true RR but you will be smiling every time you drive it. As far as the graphics, do it in wrap material, that way you can remove it if you don't like it later.
I actually like that it’s different. Lots of RR’s out there. I suppose I could have put a 440 in it and slap a Bird on it and said I have a RR clone BUT I think its far more cool when people will say hey nice RR and I say its not a RR. That will spur an interesting discussion as to what it is. The first Satellite I saw was back in 1974 and I think it was a 1971 and it was cool. I found this car from the original owners languishing in the dirt complete and intact. I am now the second owner and as I indicated in the original post will stay a Sport Satellite albeit with a 340 instead of the 318 which I still have. I chose Sublime because I always wanted to have a Mopar in that color. Engine bay is done as you can see. Just playing with some trim to make it just a bit different and unique. I plan to use vinyl so I can play with it custom graphics maybe do a Sport Satellite was logo etc.

#1....Yes
#2....it's not a 69 GTX
#3....it's not a 68 GTX
#4....looks like scrap pieces were stuck on the car
#5....See #3
I did a factory restoration on my 1971 Corvette LS5 Roadster. Everything was numbers matched and correct everything. I became a slave to it and while I learned so much I decided I wanted a a car that I could afford to drive and not worry about. One that is my own to be able to make in anyway so as not to have to be factory correct. So if the car deviates or uses other Mopar related concepts that OK by me. Mopar is Mopar and “this car ain’t going to Barrett Jackson or Saudi Arabia if I can help it” its meant for tooling around and causing all so minor mischievous behavior and sounds of the 60’s and 70’s for my soul and the eyre of DPS lol

Option 7 I presume is the same as option 8 unless there are hidden options in 8. :)

Just saying I am OK with a 1968 stripe on a 1970 if it looks cool. Not trying to build to factory standards. Also that I like that this car is a Sport Satellite thats all really...

So I looked at the VIN to determine the color name and found something interesting that I don’t understand. The color code is DY3 which is cream as I suspected. BUT it appears that its a Dodge color not a Plymouth color? Was that an option?

Ok in Plymouth talk its called Yellow Gold and in Dodge its called Cream Y3 = Y3 but Yellow Gold?

My Vette was War Bonnet Which was a yellow gold color.....lol

Option 6 looks good, breaks up all that green and is just different enough. If you could incorporate some Sport Satellite emblems or graphics in there, say near the front where the RR bird would be on a RR, that might look almost factory like.

IMHO I too like that it is a sport sat....kinda opens the door when people ask about your road runner and then you can tell them about a SS.....

I think too many people convert these to a GTX and RR and it takes away from the birth of the actual car....To each is own in this but that’s my opinion.....

Did Mopar ever have a graphic for any of its Satellites? I have never seen one.....

I haven't ever see one either but with Mopar its hard to say. That said, this is an opportunity to make the car look like it came that way while looking sporty.
