Look at what arrived this weekend:









Now I have to wait for the rest of the parts. TTI headers and mounts, aftermarket A/C system, etc. Get everything pre-fit before I do the body and paint so I can fill in any un-needed holes and accessories. The engine came with the drive by wire pedal and all the computers and harnesses. Now that I have it in my possession, I can give Dave Weber a call and see what route we are going to take with the electronic end of it. I used to work at dealerships so I am not afraid of electronics, it's just that every couple years the systems change and I can't keep up with everything.

Updates.

I haven't been able to devote 100% to this project because I had to finish up a '69 Dart GTS 440. We have it media blasted and in primer. Locating a few more parts (like fenders and a trunk lid, hint, hint... anyone got some?).

The owner stopped by yesterday and asked one more thing of me.
"Can we get newer power seats to work in this car???". Hmmm good question.

Anyone know? How much of this "complete harness" controls creature comforts like seats and power windows?? Or maybe a better question is how are the new seats powered?? By a body module that is separate from the rest of the driveline computers or is everything working in unison???

Any thoughts?

I know alot of guys put seats out of Sebring convert's and such for the 3rd belt and are able to simply wire it up. Don't know much about seats out of Challengers/Chargers/etc of the last few years.

I dont know too much about late model seats, but this is for sure, DO NOT PUT POWER TO THE YELLOW WIRE FOR IT IS FOR THE SIDE AIR BAGS IF EQUIPPED.

unfortunatley, unless you have the complete interior harness and control modules ( yes the seats are module control'd ) i would say just wire them up yourself ...... looks like a cool project !

Still trying to find the proper wiring schematics for this engine harness. I really don't know what I have at this point.

Tore the dash down this afternoon. The pad is going to Just Dashes.

The Cluster...... Oh my. It dawns on me.

The 5 speed auto. It must need a electronic speedo, right?

The Temp, Oil, etc. Must need mods???

Who is a good dash company? Looking through MCG, there are a bunch of choices. Anyone know of one that deals with modern engine swaps??

you biggest challenge is going to be the modern 5 speed auto,,it needs to see rear wheel speed,or drive shaft speed, unless some one has found a way to reflash the computer to think it has a stick shift,,,hot wires would be my guess for a good source of info,,, kool project im following it

you biggest challenge is going to be the modern 5 speed auto,,it needs to see rear wheel speed,or drive shaft speed, unless some one has found a way to reflash the computer to think it has a stick shift,,,hot wires would be my guess for a good source of info,,, kool project im following it

Yeah, I am under that impression too. The owner really jumped the gun on finding this engine and trans. Didn't think all the options through. I just said I would make it fit, his mechanic friend is the one who said it would be easy :angryfire:

He already paid for the factory harness and trans so he wants to use as many features as we can. Problem is that I haven't found a good wiring diagram to see what we even have!

At least I can do what I do in the meantime and fix all the rust holes in the car!

ok i didnt know this was for a customer,,,i figured it was a 6.1 not a 5.7,, i would think the best way to get a wiring diagram is to buy the factory service manual that covers all the elecrtics,,,

i dont know what the jeeps use for rear ends,,hard axel ?? or IRS ?? but the computer gets its signal from the rear wheel sensors,,,or it will not go in to gear,,

a guy over on the A BODY site figured out how to build his own system to read rear wheel speed,,but he is in the middle of that project 6.1 and factory 5 spped auto in to a notch back barracuda,,he has not posted in over a year as far as i know,,,if i could remember the topic name,, you would be able to read thru it and see what he did,,

Don't know if it will work, but some '07 Ram rear diffs come with two separate wheel speed sensors. There may be other diffs that will work also work from Dakotas or Jeeps that would be a closed match width wise, might be worth looking into. Good luck on this project, always thought that modern drivetrain, with muscle car looks is best of both worlds.
