1973-1974 Roadrunner & GTX and Satellite Pic Thread

I don't know, You haven't looked at it yet? Im starting to think you have decided to try a different route lol.. Get this notion its Ron's fault out of your head, All Ron did is show ya what you wanted, like the rest of the ones you will blame IF you get this car! lol, And you will once you start building it depending on the shape of it, first thing that will come to mind is "maybe i should have thought this out more" :) Now im just having some fun hear, a car build is a lot of fun, Go look at it, If this is what you want don't snooze, get it you don't have to start it right away.. but its there when your ready. as far as "just a car" WOW, Is Ringling brothers just another circus? is Micky just a mouse? Your on your own bud lol.. Looking forward to pictures, get going!! ROFL.. If you don't hurry, someone else is going to grab this and you then will be tempted into just a car! View attachment 97495

Yeah I think it's time I go and look at it. The bad part its out (up on blocks) in the weather and its snowed here so its really muddy and now its raining.

I think if I get it Im going to do my own thing with it. I will paint it back to original color inside and out but I will hop up the 318 and add some modern things to it and maybe look at doing something pro touring...Dont know yet.

Im going to have a T'shirt made that says Ron's fault and Everyones fault from FBBO lol.

Keep us updated

Will do and I'm doing some more research on what I want to do with the car if I get it. Do you know of anyone making the wiring harness?

If they don't make them is there a place I can get the stuff and make them myself?

I'm thinking of doing something fun with what ever car or truck I decide on. Its time to have fun!

At the suggestion of CornetRtGuy, i am adding my 73 Roadrunner to this thread.
For those that are not aware i am doing a complete ground up restoration, so here is some history and a collage of progress! And you can find updates in the Members project setion "My 73 Roadrunner Project".
The Car: 1973 Plymouth Roadrunner - Build date April 1973, St. Louis. Numbers matching 340, 727 (a B&M Street/Strip built tranny), rear axle is 3.55 gears, and rebuit with Detroit Locker TrueTrac.
The History: In the photo below. 1.) Bought the car in 1983 and drove it up until about 10 years ago. 2.) April 2011, before the strip down started, it did start in September 2011. 3.) June 2012 after completing the strip down. 4.) Returned from the body shop December 1, 2012. 5.) The only major damage on the car, drivers side rear quarter completely rusted out on the bottom half, and caked with bondo, this was a repair that didnt hold and done before i bought the car. 6.) The quarter after repaired properly, pounded out, and patch panel used for lower section plus new trunk extension and some fabrication on the inner skin.
The Process: I comletely stripped the car to nothing but the basic suspension, it was completely media blasted top to bottom, front to back and inside and out. It was then placed on a rotisserie, and all the rusted sections were cut out and patched, dents removed, the car skim coated (it had hail damage from about 5 storms), and painted with urthane primer, then painted two coats color and 1 coat clear on the underside, and 4 coats color 1 clear on the top side. I have derusted every part on the car either with media blasing or rust remover solution and either painted or powder coated. To date, i have had 175 parts powder coated in 20% black and a hand full painted in 20% black.
Upgrades and restoration parts: Billstein shocks, 1.06 Firm Feel torsion bars, Detroit Locker True track differential, Level 2 steering gearbox rebuild from Firm Feel, All Moog front suspension bushings, ball-joints, tie-rods, with Prothane K_Frame, torsion bar mount busings, all new wiring harnesses from M&H Electric, New seat covers and upper door panel restoration from Legendary Auto Interiors, New hood pins and exhaust tips from Dales Cuda shop, new gaskets, insulation, and heater box rebuild kit from Detroit Muscle technology, Accuform lower door panels and seat backs (unfortunately nobody makes really good reporductions at the moment), new cut pile carpet from Auto Custom Carpets, a new remanufactured Carter TQ, New ready rad radiator, Spectra Premium fuel tank, NOS shock plates, NOS charcoal canister, NOS Wheel house moldings (thanks to one of the great members here), replacement axle shafts and bumperetts (thansk to one of the great members here), and the list goes on with lots and lots and lots of other stuff that completely fills up my 10x12 spare bedroom.

Thats a beautiful Roadrunner and great job on the work done and being done to it. I can't wait to see it done and see some out and about shots of the car. The car does look really good and I'm just stunned at the restoration on it. Thanks for posting it over here.

Yeah that is my plan of what to do with this car or what ever car or truck I go with. I will have fun with it and drive the wheels off it. I need to look for rims that I think would look good on it. I kind of want to do a Hot Rod pro touring type of thing I have both those bugs that have bitten me.

I was just wondering if it was something I would have to make myself and figure out the wiring. I will also have to get the car running.

Did you go look at the Road Runner?

My first bird was this color... white canopy vinyl top, white interior... and I installed a rust orange shag carpet in mine... (hey, it was 1975...we all did it).

1974 Satellite Sebring. 318/727 combo, planning on building the 318 eventually saving up parts for now lol

Crazy part is this car is about 90% original. Including the top/paint/interior.

I just talked to the owner on the 73 Roadrunner on the phone. He now wants 3k for it and doesnt know how I got the 1500 price (his son and his own add said) and wouldnt budge at all. He knows the original owner of it and it does need right rear lower quarter and trunk but he is not sure what else besides interior. I asked if it had the build sheet "whats that" and then he said oh yeah I'm sure it does. The car doesnt run but did when parked years ago.

Looks like I will be searching some more and I got time but that 71 RoadRunner in Texas for 4500 is looking more and more like my car.

I like that color! Good luck finding "Lucky Number 4."

I saw a nice looking 73-74 Roadrunner sitting in a parking lot of town houses today. The car is B5/B5 with white stripes and the hood call out said 440. It does need paint but I didn't see a forsale sign and if I wasnt in a hurry I may have stopped and asked if it was for sale. I used to own a town house where this car is located and I think it belongs to the lady who runs the town home board. He had a 65-70 Dodge truck I think it was a Dude truck. I need to look her number up and call and see if it might be forsale.

The other guy is a little off on his pricing at 3K needing trunk pan, right back half quarter panel, doesnt run, needs interior and he isn't really sure what else. I guess I'm still on the hunt. Now if this car was a 340, 400, 440 or a 360 car I would maybe make a better offer and if it was a 4spd car I would make the offer or meet his price.

Ok coronetRTguy,,,sorry I haven't writtin to you in pm,,but I did once and it wouldn't send threw and haven't tried again. But I figured I need to post my pics of the rattler on here,,maybe you'll reconize it. I agree, Lots of hard work there.. Looks real good and i like how you have the combo color on it, almost looks like the stripes and up over the top and trunk deck.. I would have liked that idea when i did my car, Learned something new this AM.. Your new stroker looks like its mean enough to move it right along to..

Wow that paint is great a throw back from the 60's-70's I like it. The interior is nice too (where did you get the seats?)
