At the suggestion of CornetRtGuy, i am adding my 73 Roadrunner to this thread.
For those that are not aware i am doing a complete ground up restoration, so here is some history and a collage of progress! And you can find updates in the Members project setion "My 73 Roadrunner Project".
The Car: 1973 Plymouth Roadrunner - Build date April 1973, St. Louis. Numbers matching 340, 727 (a B&M Street/Strip built tranny), rear axle is 3.55 gears, and rebuit with Detroit Locker TrueTrac.
The History: In the photo below. 1.) Bought the car in 1983 and drove it up until about 10 years ago. 2.) April 2011, before the strip down started, it did start in September 2011. 3.) June 2012 after completing the strip down. 4.) Returned from the body shop December 1, 2012. 5.) The only major damage on the car, drivers side rear quarter completely rusted out on the bottom half, and caked with bondo, this was a repair that didnt hold and done before i bought the car. 6.) The quarter after repaired properly, pounded out, and patch panel used for lower section plus new trunk extension and some fabrication on the inner skin.
The Process: I comletely stripped the car to nothing but the basic suspension, it was completely media blasted top to bottom, front to back and inside and out. It was then placed on a rotisserie, and all the rusted sections were cut out and patched, dents removed, the car skim coated (it had hail damage from about 5 storms), and painted with urthane primer, then painted two coats color and 1 coat clear on the underside, and 4 coats color 1 clear on the top side. I have derusted every part on the car either with media blasing or rust remover solution and either painted or powder coated. To date, i have had 175 parts powder coated in 20% black and a hand full painted in 20% black.
Upgrades and restoration parts: Billstein shocks, 1.06 Firm Feel torsion bars, Detroit Locker True track differential, Level 2 steering gearbox rebuild from Firm Feel, All Moog front suspension bushings, ball-joints, tie-rods, with Prothane K_Frame, torsion bar mount busings, all new wiring harnesses from M&H Electric, New seat covers and upper door panel restoration from Legendary Auto Interiors, New hood pins and exhaust tips from Dales Cuda shop, new gaskets, insulation, and heater box rebuild kit from Detroit Muscle technology, Accuform lower door panels and seat backs (unfortunately nobody makes really good reporductions at the moment), new cut pile carpet from Auto Custom Carpets, a new remanufactured Carter TQ, New ready rad radiator, Spectra Premium fuel tank, NOS shock plates, NOS charcoal canister, NOS Wheel house moldings (thanks to one of the great members here), replacement axle shafts and bumperetts (thansk to one of the great members here), and the list goes on with lots and lots and lots of other stuff that completely fills up my 10x12 spare bedroom.
