1973 Charger restoration

The car on the bottom is mine, but the car on the top is an idea of what mine will look like, albeit a few differences.

No fenders are the worst I've ever seen they are sh**

YY1's set of fenders arnt so bad there fixable there probably the best set you'll be able to find

I ordered a pair of seats on ebay. I like factory correct seats the best. And yes, I will be reupholstering them in black.

Your fenders don't look too bad in the pics.

Good 71-74 fenders are very hard to find.

Show us some closeups.

AMD was going to make them a few years ago, but decided not to.

I think they are missing a gold mine.

Update!!! More pics!!! I got the gauge cluster out of the dash, along with all the wiring... I also found some older pics of the car, before it exploded in my shop...

Here's some pics from a few months ago... Sorry for not posting much. My work schedule has been crazy! @YY1 , if you look at the front of the fenders, they're screwed up. But fixable. But I'm completely new to bodywork, and I guess I'm gonna have to learn!

The front bumper was twisted like a pretzel, too. The old owners had quite a few "deer issues". If anybody has 73-4 Front bumper brackets they'd sell, PLEASE PM me. I'm also looking for all the brackets that bolt into the front bumper, for reinforcement and holding in the grille inserts.

Will a 71-2 rear valence bolt onto a 73-4 Charger? I'm not re-using the rubber "buck teeth" bumper guards, and the 71-2 Have a much smaller slot where the guards poke through. Thanks. - David.

I just ordered some parts and tools.... I'm getting anxious to finish it.

I'm pretty sure I have a set of front bumper brackets.

Much friendlier to ship than fenders.

Fenders on these get beat and unfortunately the undercoating and/or primer in the "pocket" area between the wheel and the bumper, above the headlights is real thin and that area rusts through real easy.

Trying to find un-dented, un-rusted 71-74 fenders is challenging to say the least.

I'm pretty sure a 71/72 rear valence will work on a 73/74, just like the front.

On the front, there's a couple bolts and brackets that don't line up, but it will work.

I got a 73-4 front valance, but I may have accidentally posted a picture of a 71-2. Not sure. I get paid next friday, could I buy front bumper brackets from you then? Thanks. - David.

Just FYI- there are 5 mount points on the front valance.

2 bots each fender (plus the brace), 2 on brackets near the outer edge of the radiator/frame rail, and one bracket in the center..

A 73/74 works on a 71/72but the frame rail brackets are too far inboard, going the other way, you'd have to cut them off.

IIRC rear is no issue.

I'll see if I can dig up those brackets. I have both 71/72 and 73/74 and it's kind of hard to tell which is which without seeing them on a car. They are NOT interchangeable.

Parts came in... AMD front valance, fender bolt set, z bar frame bracket, and thode tools. All are very high quality imo. I just ordered a left quarter skin, which is stamped in the USA in ohio. TABCO makes it.

Rear valence came in, not too much progress as it's freaking cold outside and I'm always at work.

Winter has ended, and progress has commenced! First I compared the old quarter to the tabco replacment.

Next, I started cutting out the old quarter skin. 32.jpg

No pictures yet, but I got 99 percent of the skin removed. I need to trim the new panel to fit and stitch weld 'er in. Meanwhile, I test fitted the AMD 73-4 front valance, and the AMD 71-2 rear valence. (I'm using the 71-2 rear valence because the car will not have the rubber 5 mph bumper guards.)

Small adjusments need made, but they fit pretty darned well for being re-pops.
