Don't know if it is ok to ask this question here but as those of us following this thread are specific to the 79 300 maybe someone has the answer. My tires on Mirada Wheels are constantly going flat and I have traced it to the poor fit of the rubber valve stems. Is anyone using metal valve stems on either their 300 wheels (Which I also have) or Mirada wheels from this time period? I seem to remember having to go with metal valve stems on the Aluminum Factory Wheels back in the day.
 
I don't recall any rubber valve stem leakage from my stock '79 300 wheels. I replaced the stock wheels in 1983 with alloy wheels from Enkei and used metal valve stems. They never leaked and they're still on the car. I've gone through sets and sets of tires since 1983, but the tire folks never did anything to the metal valve stems. Same rubber seals since new in 1983.

I kept the original wheels of course because one day the car will be valuable. I even kept the original water pump (larger bearing) and original carb because the next owner will want them.. :eek:

10,000 original miles but it's been sitting in his backyard for almost 30 years. Who does that to a 10K car?
Probably every wheel is froze by now. The car must be pretty tight..interior looks better then I thought it would.

Not mine..just popped up on fb marketplace. Don't see a vin but looks to be a decent 300.

This car would clean up to be a nice driver. Probably not a car show car though, to much surface rust in spots. 10k miles and the hood insulation is gone?
I bet the paint would come back easy with a proper cut/polish.
He could get $3500 all day.... in WI because of the salt. Down south? Yeah I dunno, probably more like 2500.
