Mike what size slicks are you running out back and what is the weight of the car.
And why didn't you put the hood on?
Stage V makes a Big Valve head, a replacement Hemi head and a Millinieum Hemi Head which makes the most power by 75-80 HP.

I really don't have to report to anyone why I left the hood off...but....very simply put....I left the hood off the car because I wanted to show off the motor in the staging lanes....simple enuf, right ?
And....I have no idea which stage 5 heads I have and I am very sorry to report that to you....I will do my best to spend hours and hours to research this question so I can satisfy your request for that information because it certainly seems important to you (but not to me)LOL.

Right before it....
Drops a valve
Throws a rod
Spins a bearing
I would imagine that aluminum rods and pistons, bore x stroke, and that ever so critical piston speed have a lot to do with that.
Until the chassis dyno I hope to get my car on soon says otherwise, my forged crank, heavy rods, stock bottom end 440 seems to want to, ALWAYS want to go to 6,200 so that's where I set the rev limiter. Shift light set at 5,800.
I blame the cam, 6bbl, and headers, for it wanting to stretch its legs, and I attribute the ability to do it to the CompCams springs and lifters that I put in it.
If I didn't have plans to build a stroker motor, I would do a lot to reinforce the bottom end, and other parts like ARP rod bolts, etc...

Turned my old 440 with stock stroke crank, heavy *** Hemi rods but with light weight pistons (ash can Jahns) 7300 in the traps for over 300 passes before the outer valve spring gave way. Got lucky with it as the valve matched the dome angle perfectly and it didn't lose the keepers so nothing bad happened. Talk about surprised! The inner spring and damper hung on....but lost 2 complete coils.

My stock crank LY rod motor spun to 7200 RPM on many occasions - never came apart. What did kill it was when the pickup tube broke of on a pass and then it still held together. I've been hearing the "you can't spin big block Mopars over 5500 RPM myth" since I was a kid.

pro-stock Hemi's were turning well over the 7500 rpm

new pro-stock Hemi's, like Al Johnson ran
before the new "current" NHRA rpm restrictions
of 10,000 rpm's, were turning 11,500+ rpm in the lights @ 211-212 mph
appr. 4.60+" to 4.7+" bore & a 3.60" to 3.75" stroke
depending on combo

that ain't no big cid stroker or gen 2 hemi thou
it's a big bore shorter stroke, completely different animal

But from what he's (Mike's) said;
there's no reason why his Gen 2 hemi shouldn't spin 8,000+
& still be pulling, especially with the right valve-train

If I'm not mistaking, the AH guys are well over 9k. Now that's a 430 CI with super light weight cranks and Titanium Valves etc etc. 55 or 60mm cam's 4-7 swap firing order 1/2 - 9/16 push rods, and 1000lbs + open pressure valve springs..... Those motors are not built to run an entire season... so yes you can run them over 9k.

Now when you get over 600 CI .. you're talking 4.75 stroke crank 7.1 Rods, with 4.5" pistons that is a lot of weight flying around in there.

As far as running low 8's with a full bodied 64 Plymouth, I don't know about that, but I can see 8.50 and up.

I've seen Kevin Dundas (Karbelt) car go 8.55 at Norwalk in mine shaft air in September.... but then the Trans failed.

I think four-five years ago at Mason Dixon some dudes 65 Plym 605 cu in went 7.80s had a little shot of nos. No gutted lite weight car either. The Hemi is a great air pump and likes to go up top!

Piston speed with a 4.75" stroke along with the weight of a big bore Hemi piston at 8000+ is not for the faint of heart. High dollar pieces with scheduled replacement would be my thought. Or just bring a broom, floor dry and a dust pan. I hope it stays together and it's a rocket.

Assuming that was built for the three kits sitting on it, I would expect something similar. I’m guessing 7100 was where it nosed over. Probably still making power but on the decline. I’ve had several 4.500 stroke hemis pulling strong to 7500. Most street guys won’t want those kind of camshafts

well mike , nice #'s for that dry air there . greatest of luck getting it down into those low 8's . but famoso folks preps the track well . of course infinity race park would have better air and make better power . raced them both . raced at sac's dragstrip , weather was so hot it was boiling the fuel in our carbs .
