2001 Ram Load-flyte Downshifts On Slight Incline

Before you get too far get some TransTune made by seafoam. Dump a few ounces (read the label) and drive it for a while and see if ot improves. The trans on my beater chebbie work car was acting up. About a week after adding the juice all is well again. 280,000 miles on the oem trans.

Good news on the ATF changes

Thanks for the links. I just may call them after I get the computer scanned.

did you adjust your bands when you change fluid? would not help your problem but good to do

Thanks, everyone for your input. The truck manual has already said not to tow with OD on. When I pulled the camper home, the truck didn't appear to be straining at all. Even braking was good given the load. I just talked to another fifth wheel camper with a 3/4 ton ford who looks like he's towing a thirty foot plus camper. He say's no problems. Next upgrade is a shift kit, different trans cooler and quality universal joints. We are going to make many stops along the way, into Virginia and North Carolina, but I think we just might leave the camper at uncles, three hours from home. And just hotel it, return to pick up the camper then head South to Florida. We want to see as much of the Atlantic coast with getting into the mountains. Any idea how far from Florida we can travel before we get to that obstacle?

Many thanks Auggie

I've made several trips up 95 from central FL to Asheville NC.

Mountains really don't start until after the SC/NC border, but then we turn off on 26 and then you get the steepest grade West of the Mississippi (Saluda) real quick.

You might be OK staying on 95

Thats a big help as we are going to Ashville. Will maybe drop the trailer at a relatives house there to head up to West Va.

Thanks

IIRC Saluda has an 8 percent and a 13 percent among others!!
