2021 11th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Time To Burn Some NITRO!!!

I guess those high qualifiers are doomed in eliminations if their wagons are hitched to me!

congrats to Nick too runner up quailfiers picks

Only 11 TF cars there. I noticed the tv coverage showed the FC ladder multiple times during the broadcast but didn't show the TF ladder even once. They must be hoping no one will notice the low turnout or figure out why one semi-final was a bye run.

I was 1 for 2

Torrence won
Capps went out early 2nd rd. IIRC

Nick should have done well
he's been faithfully riding that Hagan horse...

Congratulations to 'Nick2317' (FBBO), 'SSG Karg' (FABO) and 'stroked340' (FABO) for sharing the "Top Picker Eliminator" crown for the 2021 Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, the 12th event of the 2021 season. They each had an outstanding total of 94.0 points with class wins in both Top Fuel and Funny Car.
'Back in Time' (FABO), 'memike' (FABO) and 'ocdart' (FABO) shared the runner-up spot with 70.5 points each.

Now we all get a weekend off to rest and study up because the third of six events in seven weeks, the 13th race of the 2021 season, the Dodge//SRT NHRA U.S. Nationals is scheduled for September 1-5, at Indianapolis Raceway Park in Indianapolis, IN.
As always, your picks need to be posted before Pro Qualifying starts. The first of 3 Pro Qualifying sessions is scheduled to begin at 6:30PM EDT (3:30PM PDT) on Friday, September 3, and will be shown on FS1 starting at 7:00PM EDT (4:00PM PDT). There will also be two additional rounds of Pro Qualifying on Sunday, September 4.

Are you ready to return to full fields of all four Pro classes? There are currently 19 Top Fuel, 20 Funny Car, 20 Pro Stock and 19 Pro Stock Motorcycle entries for this race event but that is always subject to change.

Also, watch for an upcoming post about a change to Round win scoring for this event.

And don't forget, just like NHRA our game points are going to reset after the U.S. Nationals to tighten up the standings and make the 2021 playoff events more competitive. That will also get explained in a future post if you're new to the game.

Get your picks posted and GOOD LUCK!

Here's your Tuesday before the event reminder for the upcoming Dodge//SRT NHRA U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park in Indianapolis, IN. NHRA.com currently shows there will be
19 Top Fuel
19 Funny Car
19 Pro Stock
21 Pro Stock Motorcycle

Make sure to check to verify your picks are scheduled to compete and post your picks before Pro Qualifying starts on Friday, September 3 at 6:30pm EDT (3:30pm PDT).
There will also be two additional Pro Qualifying sessions on Saturday.

The television schedule for the U.S. Nationals is:
* Q1, Friday, September 3: 7-9pm EDT (4-6pm PDT) on Fox Sports 1
* Q2 & 3, Sunday, September 5: 9-11am EDT (6-8am PDT) on Fox Sports 1
* Eliminations, Sunday, September 5: 11am-1pm EDT (8-10am PDT) on Fox Sports 1 and 1-4pm EDT (10an-1pm) on FOX

OK, here's how our "Pick 'Em" game points will be re-set after the 2021 U.S. Nationals:

* The point leader will have their points re-set at 2000 points
* The 2nd place player will have their points re-set at 1970 points
* The remaining players will follow in order with their points re-set at a maximum of 10 points behind the player in front of them in the standings following completion of the 2021 U.S. Nationals. If there should be less than a 10-point gap between players following the U.S. Nationals then that smaller point gap will carryover. Example: There is currently (before the U.S. Nationals) a 2-point difference in the point standings between 'cuda20' and 'shittyslant6', if that point gap is still the same after the U.S. Nationals then it would remain at a 2-point difference after the points are re-set.

Indy picks for me are
TF Steve Torrence
FC Matt Hagan
Ps Erica Enders
PSM matt Smith

Wonder if Angelle Sampey will be running this weekend ? She lives right where Ida hit.

INDY US Dodge/SRT Nationals

T/F Steve Torrence
(Britney (her crew chief) has been qualifying well,
I don't trust her racing)

F/C John Force
(I was going to go with Capps (my favorite) or Hight,
I just have a gut feeling about it, he/John does well on big stages)

P/S Greg Anderson
(finally, break Warren Johnson's record ?, he's due)

P/SM Matt Smith
(a bunch of 200+ runs, by him & the Harleys (S&S's) probably too)

good luck everyone

Something interesting today from CompetionPlus.com...

"After years of not having big-dollar shootouts for the fuel classes, word has it the NHRA will soon reveal shootouts for the Top Fuel and Funny Car divisions. From what we hear, an eight-car, race-within-a-race Top Fuel show will be unveiled at the 2022 NHRA Gatornationals. Funny Car fans rejoice because we hear a race-within-a-race will return to the NHRA U.S. Nationals in 2022, along with Monday eliminations. Not bad for a sport some say is 'circling the drain.'"

Both Angelle Sampey and Jerry Savoie are both still listed today as Pro Stock Motorcycle entries for the U.S. Nationals

They need something to spark more interest
the pro classes are dying,
frequently barely get more qualifiers than a full field
even at INDY, so many races with less than 16 cars per
weak payouts are a huge part of it
sponsors shelling out 10's of millions
for a few seconds on TV a couple times over 3 hrs

the purses need to catch up to the other pro-sports
or professional motorsports at a min.

let them run other sanctioning bodies too
let them do displays & match races traveling between NHRA races
some of that is NHRA limited today
they have to rely on more & more $$$ from team individual sponsors

while the NHRA (so-called) "non-profit" admin./figureheads
all get filthy rich

even the sportsman classes need more funding/better purses
they are the backbone of the NHRA

:BangHead:

been there done that
