They have screwed themselves in a royal fashion. Greed, and this is what happens. Stellantis and the dealers themselves, for the last few years, thought they could screw there loyal customers by raising prices over 50% in 5 years, then letting dealers tack on additional markup over sticker.

Brand new 2023 Chrysler 300, Stickers for $42980, advertised for $33046, thats 25% off. And they have many still on the lot.

Yes: Serves them right. Although an aged design I do like those cars, probably better than anything else available.

Overall, the car business has historically been boom and bust. So, we'll see where it leads. People have short memories and a new generation of buyers is always coming along.

I would venture to guess that they are still making money on that Chrysler 300 at 25% off.

I had a phone conversation with a dealer salesman last year over the purchase of a new Charger GT for my wife, which we did not buy. The pricing was ridiculous and they wanted over MSRP. That is why they are in this situation by the way. I told him they (Stellantis) does not know who their customers are. We are blue collar for the most part, we want the v8, and we cant spend $50000 for a family sedan or $70000 for a mid level pick up, and, we will never buy electric. He stated he was very excited about the electric cars coming and they have a lot of inquiry about them. Ford cant sell them, Tesla is having trouble yet they think their overpriced electric cars are going to sell? They are nuts and deserve what is happening to them.

So why even entertain buying a basically new vehicle in the first place? One is better off buying a used model with less than 100k on the odometer that will still outlast in years of drivability. So many are so caught up in having to have the newest, latest, and greatest that they finance these vehicles at an extortionate interest/"JUICE" rate and have these 1000.00 monthly payments on a brand new vehicle that depreciates the minute it is driven off the lot!!! Makes absolutely no sense at all. Then again maybe it's not supposed to...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

I always buy low mileage used vehicles. My latest was a 2020 Grand Cherokee Limited X, purchased in April, 2022. It turned 12,000 miles (20,000 kilometers) on the way home from the dealership. It was a clean, one-owner Jeep with extended warranty. I saved over $20,000 from list price. I was allowed $20,000 for my 2015 Durango that I paid $28,000 for in 2016.

Captain obvious here - you can't buy used what someone didn't buy new... You should be thanking those of us who do mix in some new cars in our garages.

Last NEW car Ive bought was my 2000 Ram 2500. I think I paid about 24k for it back then

Latest newer car I bought is the wife's 2016 Chrysler 200s. Bought it as a dealer demo with less than 5000 miles. For slightly over half its new car MSRP
Still have it and no real interest to upgrade

Although,,,,,I looked at a new 2024 Scat pack charger this spring. As I looked this car A LOT......And I spent the next 2 hours trying to talk myself into it. This one was the only one they had with factory sunroof Which is my wife's mandatory must have option. But I just cant justify 60-70k on a new car. Wife works from home so her car basically spends most of its time in the garage.

I am having an email conversation with a salesman at Courtesy CDJR in Mesa AZ right now. They have this used 2022 Laramie truck advertised on Cars.com for $44500. 30,000 miles, 1 accident reported. not a perfect truck which can be seen in the pictures. Right away the salesman wants me to come in. No way. I told him I am not wasting my time coming in or on the phone if we can not make a deal. So he eventually does get me an out the door price. Look at this. He added $3700 in bullshit add ons, not including the tax. I told him that is why I am not coming in there, already saved myself an afternoon.

I would prefer the F8 green...but no sunroof killed that one without even thinking about it . Plus it was mid 60s MSRP

Does that 300 come with a good semi auto handgun for drive by shootings?

The crazy prices are one thing the other is how so many are indistinguishable from each other. Went to a classic car show on Saturday. Not all styling back in the day was attractive but it was dead easy to tell one brand and model from another. Death to the jelly beans.

Maybe so but the question still is...WHY??? cr8crshr/Bill :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:

The problem we have right now is a double-edged sword. The banks are not lending 80% of the purchase price
or giving you ten years to pay it back even if you have great credit. Wells Fargo is paying $500.00 bonuses to
Repo companies above the regular fee to collect their financed cars that people stopped paying for. The auctions
are crazy right now. Yes, the are getting what they deserve!

On that truck, The last offer from them is $50000 out the door. Tax and all. Got rid of most of the bullshit add ons. Still not where I want them to be. The guy was practically begging me to come in today and buy the truck. I wonder if there sales are down? lol

Tow the company line,
he knows they aren't selling, they've tanked
but he'll still push that lie, his commission depends on it
it's just so damn dumb

AS to the Chrysler for $33k
I got a deal on a new 2017 Chrysler 300s back in Nov of 2017
we got for my sister, her birthday is Dec. 20th
she needed a good car, she totaled her last old one, slid off a road in a mudslide :BangHead:
she was being frugal, it was only insured with liability
(she goes thru cars/trucks like underwear)
We got it at our local Sonora CDJR, they were moving the inventory,
had a big year end sale, after a big negotiation back & forth BS
we talked to the manager
it was $27k+ T&L/dealer prep :blah: ($33k-ish) out the door/with a 5.7ltr Hemi not a v6
fully loaded, leather etc., like 19 (?) options checked off, paint sealer treatment
they even threw in some custom floormats :jackoff:
it was (IIRC) like $42k car MSRP even back then, but not for a v6...

not hers but same type deal, stock photo can't find my photos of hers
2017 Chrysler 300S Sports Appearance Package #1.jpg

(stuff I never get, dad wanted it, car had like just under 1,200 miles as a demo,
used by the Gen. Mngr, it's the 2nd car I got as a demo from him, the 1st was my
1999 Dakota SLT had like 1,200 miles too, 25 years ago, when it was Motherlode Motors
)

"Really Nice" car dark grey graphite, with dark graphite leather/red stitched
heated & cooled seats, nav & killer stereo :blah:
unfortunately it didn't last, she got in a couple of minor fender benders
nothing really, but still repairs
then a damn crazy wind storm, we've had a couple killer winters out here
she had like 70mph+ 2 years/winters ago, tree blew over
a huge 6' across at the tree trunk rotten inside
like 70+ft (?) tall, 120+y/o white Oaktree
on her house/kitchen living room & garage & ROOF
in Redbluff, Ca
it took out/crushed the car flattened 1 side
& about 1/2 her house (nice lil' ranchette it's on 20 acres)
took out kitchen front room/den & office
my niece was sleeping on the couch, broke her pelvis, rude awakening
Destroyed/crushed most the contents of the garage,
washer & dryer, custom cabinets, work bench & shelving,
most my stepfathers old tools, welder table saw :blah:

Her auto insurance (Hartford) only gave her like $15k for the car, (rip-off) :BangHead:
it had like 70k+ miles mostly all freeway, going to the Sacramento airport & back...
The house/garage needed like originally $175k
(then they inflated the bid, went up to like $225k) in repairs
shyster contractor
she had to live out of a hotel for like 13 months,
they still haven't paid for that
& also the contractor has screwed her over, house still not 100% completed
going on 3 years

she moved back in anyway, she has animals PITA in a hotel,
going to & from the property
& at 1st, she had no hot water or propane (in the last winter)
she has to fight the (Hartford) insurance co./the contractor (has been paid most of it)
for that crap too now...

42k for a 300 with a 392, we'll talk!
Not interested in a v6 for 23k, let alone 33 or 43!
I'd love a Trackhawk that they don't make anymore, but I saw a trackhawk-lite
at an AZ dealer (392 SRT).
The sticker was over 100k.
Uh, no thanks.

I'll be a buyer if they lower it 90%. $3-5K is my range.
