ok the carb arrived today. here are pics of the Stromberg on the left and the Carter BBD on the right. There are a couple of differences but both look a lot a like. The Cater has two more vacuum ports on it, one ported and one manifold, than the Stromberg. This may be to the CAP (clean air package) system on this California car. I had to use the accelerator pump rod as the Stromberg did not have one on it. Now all I need to do is figure out how to move the air cleaner hold down from one to the other and it will good to install.
Thanks! Yea I figured it out. A trick I used was to take a pair of adjustable pliers set them to max size then used then in reverse to spread the spring and it came right off
Got the carb back on this evening but have not fired it up yet. Found out I set the accelerator pump rod to low so it interferes with the high idle cam. So tomorrow I'm going to make that adjustment and fire it up.
