I recenty picked up a 1974 plymouth satellite with an all stock 318. I'm looking to get a little more pep out of the motor with out doing anything internally. Im sure this subject has been beat to death on this forum but ive been searching the internent all day about this car and i just want some opinions from you guys. what type of carb/exhaust setup should i run? can i do anything else to gain some extra H.P.?

Put on a set of small tube headers and free flowing dual exhaust followed by a 500 CFM carb and dual plane intake, or get a factory 360 intake and TQ carb for nearly nothing. Also if you don't have electronic ignition from the factory you can get one of those MoPar orange box kits from Summit. But equally as important as a good spark you want to set up the distributor with a performance advance curve.

A dual plane 4bbl such as the Edelbrock Performer would do best as well as the Weiand Action Plus. As far as carb goes, a 500 is fine, a 600/625 is easy to tune in. It is what I would recommend. (600 Edel.)
Headers are the biggest pain to install except the very expensive tti or Doug headers, in which I'll always purchase for now on. 2-1/4 pipe @ a min. and 2-1/2 pipe max.
Add a better ignition and your all set.

IF a cam is OK to do later, and you have Hwy. gears, look no larger than a cam intake duration of 218* @ .050. It is OK to use with the stock stall converter.
Also, make it a split duration design.
