360 oil pan?

Actually no, it would have been the 10235 for the cast crank 340. Not sure if they're the same Dia but assume so
They are not. The 10239 is a smaller diameter than the 10235. The 10235 has three bolt patterns for the torque converter, including the larger diameter pattern with holes for the little 5/16" bolts. The 10239 is smaller diameter and does not have that larger diameter bolt pattern specifically because no 904 ever used that pattern.

I don't have experience with the 12039 yet either so I don't know if it has that clearance issue. But I would like to know.

very cool.. i just got my block a few days ago... have to find a truck to get it to a machine shop

BTW.. that's a LA Roller block.. LA block with factory roller cam provision like a magnum.. can run a roller cam and oem lifters, very nice setup... i just bought a 85 block hoping it was roller but nope. They are not easy to find.
Are you going to proceed with that non-roller block or do you still want to wait for a roller instead? What machine shop do you plan to use for your current block? I am kind of local to you. Feel free to send a PM if you need help with transportation to a local shop.

I'm out at 25/romeo plank and it's a haul for you.. i will get it done :) I am either going to use Dave Harmon in waterford (supposed to do amazing work) or St. Clair machining out near me.. st clair is closer.. Terry Brighton who does a lot of small blocks uses them but their reviews online are sketchy :(

took me a year to find this block so i will use it, plus i wanted to go to solid rollers anyway so the factory roller thing is moot :) If it cleans up at .030 i'm going with the 426 kit. I'm not going for max power, i figure more cubes will make plenty without stressing stuff.

P.S. thanks btw :)

Interesting. More pieces to the puzzle

Summitracing has 360 car oil pans. Just be forwarned the rails where it bolts to the block aren't exactly flat from end to end. Might take some light massaging to flatten them into shape. I sent one back but the replacement was the same so i decided to live with it. Haven't installed it yet.

BTW.. BM73 when you start assembly i would make a new thread and post pics as you go.. people love to point out anything you miss which might save you a lot of headache.. like the oil plug inside the valley by the dist gear :) Also... i would get a paint marker and mark everything after final torque.. 1 missed bolt is a bad day

I missed that oil galley plug. I know about it but could not access it while mounted to the engine stand. Got in a hurry and forgot to put it in. Had sneak it in from the top with the intake off. Not easy, but can be done.

i 100% would miss it if i hadn't read bout others missing it.. it's just not something i would even think is there

The one that gets pressed in under the main cap is a hidden one that is easier to miss because you don't really see it. That one causes near complete loss of oil pressure. The screw-in one near the distributor I missed caused lower oil pressure everywhere, but most notably in the left side valvetrain. Luckily it was hydraulic roller lifters and Chevy style roller rocker arms on Magnum style Edelbrock heads. No damage, just bruised ego.

I sent you a pm.

Yes that is the plan for sure. i want one thread completley dedicated to the build and to ask questions i may not know the answers to. As far as that oil plug. here are all the pictures i currently have in no particular order. any chance you can show which one or where around about it may be? i had the machine shop do all the plugs and cam barrings. so im hoping its already plugged. but never hurts to triple check

It's there.... and you can see why it would suck if you forget it :)

Also.. This hole oils your rockers/top end.... take a flash light and make sure the hole goes through the cam bearing... oil goes to the cam then to the top end... places are amazing at not lining it up.. check both sides...

Also... Take your old cam if you have it and GENTLY put it in before you do anything else.. all 5 cam bearings are different sizes and are famous for not fitting properly.. it's the first thing i would check cause if the cam doesn't go in easy and spin easy you need to take it back and have them fix it. I had a place tell me i spun the cam bearings putting the cam in... insanity

it's inside the intake valley right where i showed.. above where the dist gear goes.. it's a metal plug just like on the front/rear of the block

solid advice i will absolutely check that out. both sides im assuming right? this is the hole at will feed the head shafts? my pushrods were solid so i assume they oil through the rocker shafts. and i have the old cam ill slide it in and check it out.

yup both sides... the oil goes through the cam, up those holes and into the rocker shafts and oils everything up

I haven't myself.. but i would 100% read it if i were you.. i just haven't cause i don't have it and i have had a lot of old mopars so i learned a lot by mistakes :) that's supposed to be a really good book though.

Also get the transmission book for when you do yours.... trans is actually very satisfying to do yourself :)

That is a good book for reading and seeing interesting stuff on big inch exotics, but if you are on a budget you just need a book dealing with torque specifications and regular assembly procedures.
