360 to 408

im looking for a mild thumper. dont really need alot of performance from it just need it to sound good hahaha. again its going to be a parking lot princess. just needs to be big an scary enough that the bullys stay away =)
well.... i went with a howards....

which sounds like...

Yep, a oem 360 flex plate would work fine, or just use the one off your 318. The best survival of a 904 would be to put new clutch seals in it, if it hasn't been overhauled recently. When you turn the pressure up in a shift kit, the old seals are the first to go and you will burn up a clutch pack. A 727 certainly is stronger then a 904, but a built 904 is very stout.
Any chance the 318 flywheel will work as well or is that wishful thinking?

Did you mean flexplate? if the 408 is internal balanced then i believe so... also make sure not to use the 360 harmonic if you are internal balanced
no. i need to get a flywheel as well because i dont have one. just wondering if the flywheel would be able to swap over. yes from what i understand the flex plate and the balancer should both be neutral balanced.

Fyi...a 318 LA head also has smaller intake and exhaust ports then the 340 and 360 did. Even if someone was building a stroked 318...I would use a head with the bigger ports. 340 and 360 had bigger valves as well, at least on the older engines. I wouldn't consider using a LA 318 head on a stroker, unless I had 2.
