383 engine value question

I sold my 1970 non hp 440 for $3600 and it wasn’t all that pretty looking but I was able to prove to the buyer that it ran and ran Good. I would think a good running hp 383 would be worth half that or close to it.

Again, if it's a 68 HP stamp engine without a VIN number, this could be a goldmine for someone looking for a correct engine for a 68 HP car.

Look for a VIN or partial VIN either on the block, above the pan rail, or in back of the oil sender.

Pan rail area would be stamped, oil sender area would be a raised casting IIRC.

Just sold it to a local guy for 500. He seen that it was a 69 383HP & said they are hard to find.
