Here is a tip for ya. Use the standard stroke windage tray. It will clear the 4.25" crank arm (due to the 1/4" - 3/8" girdle) and clear the pick-up. It will tuck up real nice to the crank.

line bore is the key- get someone that knows what they are doing with mopar
line hone is not really necessary and should not take much
no rush, not too much pressure, etc

Hughs said a windage tray wasn`t needed w/ a girdle. A girdle will help w/ main cap walking, which could help control the block splitting between the cam and mains ," some". Wish I had the coin for a new alum. block myself. Shannons engineering has them for about $5000 !!

It acts like a partial windage tray it self. Oil slings around and gets caught on the under side of it and falls into the pan. A scraper would be more benficial .

scraper is tough with a BB block , no reason not to use the tray

at higher revs you get cap walk even with a 383 stroke
I tighten up the caps B4 even a line hone
If you are going to do a line bore/ hone anyway (for studs) why not do a girdle at the same time
get a thick one not the ones that are the thickness of a windage tray
Light rods and pistons really help the bottom end problems- using the longest rod you can with whatever stroke you choose get's you the lightest pistons
oil ring through the pin works for me

The girdle does nothing for windage. It does act a little like a very poor scraper. Everyone that I know that uses a real scraper (i.e. 0.040" crank and rod clearance), along with their girdle, still use a windage tray also.

im building it myself with my dad but my machinest is Jesse Robinson in Cornwall. He works for Shaver-Kudell and is advising me along the way. He did all the machining, balancing, flow testing, and will tune it on the dyno for me once it's all complete (not that this money pit will be done anytime soon but one day!)

You don't need a girdle for that engine. Save the money and use it to upgrade with a Holley Sniper EFI. Spend the money where it counts and you'll be happier in the long run.
