Remember, you asked. Here are my thoughts. Throw the 413 in the ditch and build a 440. If you doubt me, hunt you up some decent pistons for a 413. Egge Machine sells some STOCK CAST flat tops for 351 bucks. After that, all you have is 800-1000 buck custom pistons. Same with the 426 wedge motor. I just recently went over all this with a friend who had his heart set on a 426. You CAN get pistons, but who wants to spend that kinda money on a stock low compression cast piston, when you can get a quality hypereutectic or forged for the same or even less? If you gotta have a 413, go for it, but there's a more powerful and cheaper alternative. The ditch. lol

Get a 440 block and build it to look like a wedge. That way you can sink all that money into the intake and heads instead of pistons that only you will know you have.

I agree with Rusty and HIT413:
I DID it too..
I built a 440 to look like a 426 MAX or a 413 MAX
This is mine for the 63 Polara. with DALE REED (Google Dale Reed @Dale's place)
Dale performed all the technical stuff...

Yup, For Hemi's Only. Tim Banning?
Anyway, I bought my Hemi air cleaner assembly from them.
I have no complaints with them
I will do business with them again.
treated me good.

Nice lookin motor.

Thanks Guys. I think you just made up my mind. On the hunt for 440. What do you think Auto or 4 speed ?

4 speeds are cool. But I prefer an automatic. Clutches do not multiply torque. Torque converters do. You'll never out shift an automatic with a 4 speed. They could dig Ronnie Sox up and frankenstein him and he still couldn't even do it.

What year of 440 would I be looking for, and ( being not a motor guy) what and where else could I get this como. Thanks

Yeah, it takes a real driver to run a stick car on the strip with any success, but I prefer a clutch pedal and row your own gear changes for my toy. Helps me feel more a part of the driving process. Plus, the exhaust note of a manual transmission shiftin' hard beats any exhaust sound of an auto. Just my opinion.

I agre 100% they are more for FUN. That's why my rat rod truck is gonna have a 4 speed behind the 318 and then a 3 speed behind the Hemi.

300:

I Have A '65 426 Wedge Block In My Satellite, But Beyond That, Most Of The Guts Are Hemi And 440 Parts. If You Looked At It, You'd Swear It Was A Stock Street Weggie! The Older Parts From The 426's Just Don't Get The Job Done Anymore. Pistons And Rods Are A Joke. The Intake And Heads Is We're You Gonna Be Making The Power!

Here ya go. Now arent u glad u didnt waste $1000 on custom pistons for that 413?

Ya your right. Now just got to find a 440. Still wondering what year to look for. Thanks
