Greetings,

QUESTION: Will a 413 with 1971 HP exhaust manifolds fit into a 1962 Polara 500 with out any clearance issues with the passenger shock mount and the drivers steering gear box? I searched for size dimensions (NADA) so I figured to ask you gurus out there. I know the RB is wider than the 383 "B" that I have in it now but how much wider?

THANKS in advance. :usflag:

I've seen many early B body cars with them on. Doesn't look like anything was modified.

I had them on my 1964 with no clearance problems with the manifolds themselves. You will have to have exhaust pipes custom bent to fit them. I ordered pipes that matched the manifolds ('69 GTX), but when installed, they were far enough forward that the tie rod would interfere with them.

The way you asked the question makes me wonder if you already have a "B" engine in the bay. If so, just hold your manifolds in place and slide them up a little better than an inch higher.....should give you a pretty decent idea where your at, since the block angle is the same, and so are the heads between the two engine families

I put them on many 62-65 street cars back in the 70s-80s with low and raised blocks and would buy 68 Road Runner pipes from the local auto parts store, never an issue.
