I finally got the 440 out of my car and got some numbers off of it. I posted quite a while ago looking for a value of the engine because i plan on selling it.
here are some numbers and pics.
The block = 2536430-5 date 1/19/70, partial vin = 0G227802
intake = 2946276
carbs = list # 4789, 4790, 4792
heads = 2843906
distributor = 3656341

It was rebuilt back in 86 so it is probably due for a refresh, and the previous owner had cut the bottom air cleaner so it would fit around the wiper motor.:angryfire:
Please give your opinion on a value, thanks

Forgot to say it runs, would run a whole lot better if I could have got the carbs set.

here are a few more pics and that pan rail number should be the first pic = 0G227802. I will look for more numbers tomorrow

The car was registered as a classic and in Alberta that allows you 3000 kms a year but it didn't see close to that. Mainly car shows and parades but some of the miles were hard (showing off). The speedo shows 67000 miles but not being the original motor that won't be correct for the engine. In about a month when i get back from work I will get a compression test and get a pic of the dampener(correct one for 440 six pack).

1800.00 do ya

If it has as low as miles your talking about, it should be an remove and replace a few gaskets, and at most rings and bearings.

Your engine even if needing a rebuild w/ intake set up should be around 2,500 to 3000.
Intake set up alone should get you something around 1000-1,200 by itself. cutting of the air cleaner is a common mod.

That $2500-$3000, could be a good number if someone is looking for original rebuildable stuff, like said before the intake, carbs & air cleaner tins would cost that to replace them with new reproductions, that doesn't mean you will get that if you try to sell them... The used parts are never worth as much as new, Hell new parts still in the box can be worth 50% less than you paid for them, unless extremely rare or something... Does it have the thick dampner & eccentric on the dampner, for the original Six Pack crank & rods combo ?... A builder that needs that date coded year, block, heads, intake etc., would be your best bet....

The carbs are date code correct for a '71 340...meaning AAR or TA...should be worth some $ for someone doing a restoration...they don't reproduce the front carb (4789). Reproduction uses the 4790 carb for both front and rear applications...so that makes the originals more desireable for a date code correct resto. Center carb is for 4 speed trans...

Don't see those everyday!! :headbang:

Im going to tear the engine down and have a real good look at all the numbers(rods, dampner,etc). Is it unusual to have only a partial vin stamped on the block? If it was all there that would answer alot of questions. Thanks for all the help

The more I find out about my motor, thanks to everyone here, The more I want to keep it. I didn't intend to give any false premise about my intentions. For now it's staying put. Thanks

Yes. Early in the 1969 cars they used the full V.I.N. on the engine but that did not last long.

Yes, if the full V.I.N. was on the wngine we would know exactly what the engine was and what it came out of, unfortunately that is not the way it is.

440 6 pack value

It is worth about 2 grand. as to the year i am still looking. Why are you removing this power plant. ? it is cool. If you want to sell it I will rebuild it and put it in my 65 coronet. call me i am in wiscon or e mail me cdog440 @yahoo.com. I will ship it by truck. I will pay threw pay pal. . as long as you tell me that the block is not cracked and it ran n like you said . I would pay around 1800. plus the shipping I guess that would be 400;or so. SO what do you think

I was only thinking of selling it and ive come to my senses and am keeping it. It came out to refresh it and really go through to make sure there is nothing really wrong with it. thanks for the offer thou.

Keep it, refresh it, rings & bearing, valve job & springs, rebuild the carbs, paint it put her back in & drive it, have some real fun....
