440 running a little warm

I have a 440 in my 65 Satellite. 10-1 compression, 906 heads, Edelbrock 750 carb and Preformer intake. I pulled the 440 to check compression ratio, heads, and to replace to a milder cam. I had a stock Mopar radiator with 180 thermostat. I have a Autometer mechanical water guage. Before I pulled my engine, it ran 180. After I put it back in, it runs 210-215 degrees. I installed a new 180 thermostat with no change. I bought an aluminum radiator from Dillon(I had a heck of a time and had to make several modifications to install it-wouldn't recommend it). With 50/50 antifreeze, it still runs 210-215. Has anyone run into this problem before and does anyone have any suggestions? T:blob1:he fan is a Mopar flex fan and is 1/2 inch from the radiator. I want to run 180. Thanks for your help.

I would suspect the new thermostst. Stick the new and old one in a saucespan of water and compare ththeir opening temp perhaps..
 
What each one of these guys says is spot on.
 
When you swapped in a milder cam, you also raised the effective, or dynamic compression ratio. Your cranking pressure is more than likely higher now than it was with the heavier cam due to the earlier intake valve closing point. 10:1 is a little on the edge for an iron headed (especially an open chamber 906) 440. 210-215 is a little hot but probably nothing to freak out over, as long as it doesn't go any higher than that.

That and everything everyone else said.

P.S. - You can try running a thinner coolant mix - 75% water, 25% antifreeze. That might help a little.
 
Have you tried running Water Wetter or similiar product? X2 on the lowering the antifreeze and more water. Antifreeze doesn't cool as well as water. X2 on Shroud too! Make sure your system is pressurizing too. Good luck.
 
Have an aluminum water pump housing? Check the water passage size in the housing, some aftermarket pump housings have very small water ports causing high temperatures.
