does anybody know of a forged piston available for a 451 with a dodge wrist pin instead of a chevy wrist pin, my keith black piston broke and I want to go with forged and don't know much about this stroker motor!any help would be great!

I have a 451 I built a few years ago. I used Ross forged pistons with a pressed pin for a stock 440 rod. 1.09" diam I believe. They also have a .990 diam pin for full floating applications. What is your wrist pin size now? You will need to go with the same size pin you have, unless you change/modify the connecting rod.

And you will want to go with the same weight piston, same compression height, same dome volume to keep everything in balance.

1.094 is my pin size now full floating ...so my rods are an aftermarket rod...so I will look into those! do you have a part # for those ross piston?? we need to go .30

also I am rebuilding the motor so I can change stuff up but the crank and rods , valvetrain I wanted to re use

Ross makes a flat top piston with a 1.094 pin, 4.350 bore, 647 grams weight, C/H of 2.065", 3.75" stroke. P/N 82008.

In my 451 I used the Ross dome piston with 440 rods in a 400 block. They only weighed 550 grams.

Sorry that P/N was for a [email protected] oversize. The Ross piston for a 451 is .035" oversize. P/N 99494. Go to the Ross piston website and they list all the various combinations available.

The 400 block needs .035" O/S to get to 4.375" bore. Then you have a larger choice of rings and pistons.

thank you very much!! they are order now!! kinda $$$ but I think it will be worth it!!

Hope you double checked the website, to make sure you're getting the right part. Lol. Did you order through Summit?

I brought it to a rebuild place so as I don't screw it up and passed on the info that you gave me ! he said its about a week delivery ....so I ordered edelbrock heads aswell......and maybe a cam....lol

What kind of heads did you order? E Street, Performer RPM?

If you are getting angle plug heads, be sure your header choice will clear the spark plugs. Some headers don't.

I would like to use TTI what head do you recommend??

Some members know which headers fit those angle plug heads. I think TTI is one that does. I am using Jegs/Patriot ceramic headers on my 451 RR. They work very well. Call the Edelbrock tech line, they will be able to tell you which headers to use with their heads. 800 416 8628

I am using straight plug iron heads.

I called Edelbrock and they informed they only have angle plugs for dodge and TTI headers will work, that's whats in the car now and only a few yrs old ...so that will save me some$$$....now I will have to figure out specs of cam and see if I will re use it!

We finished the engine and did 3 Dyno pulls ...480 hp with 5 35 ft lbs torque!! I will try to post the video!!

The TTI headers work great with angle plug heads. I use them on my 63 with the Indy EZ angle plug heads and they fit great just like they do with the Eddy heads. Ron

Cool, I'm building a 451 right now with those same Ross pistons. That's a nice HP/torque number, do you mind posting the combo? Oh and up the dyno sheet when you have a chance. Congrats on the engine, she should be a real screamer!

I would love too!! I took a video and pics with my cel phone and cant seem to upload them , computer says there is an error, so I tried from my android phone and it wont allow me for some reason??does anybody know how to post a video and pics from android phone??

steel crank, good rods , (have no idea who's they are) , .030 ross pistons, eddy rpm heads, 1.6 roller rocker(hughes) and hughes cam grind / HEH3237BL , not too lumpy just enough to know its not stock!, and rpm intake, quick fuel 750cfm carb, and really crappy small headers on the dyno!
