512 builds.. post em if you got em!

If we've covered this, I apologize in advance.
This is the serpentine system manufacturer I am most inclined to go with:
I may start with the alternator only setup as that is my current status, or if funds allow, I may add Air Conditioning and power steering at that time. The black diamond look I think will complement the krinkle black and brushed aluminum valve covers I have.

I like that, when I bought my serpentine kit from SD Concepts CV didn't offer a true serpentine kit yet. Looks really nice

I had the 8 rib non serpentine kit, now have the SD kit, I like the SD kit better then even the new CV serpentine kit.

The CV kit looks great but having AC, power steering and the rest my SD kit has great placement for all the accessories so yeap I'm happy plus a lot less $$$

PISTON PIN IS NOT IN THE OIL RING WITH 7.1 RODS--------------------4.250 STROKER . R/B .
OK. I have a 230 block I'm using for this build, and I already have a 4.25 crank with 6.535 rods in a 496 that I will be using. Good to know that the longer rods broaden the torque range. Thanks!

Even if they are does it even matter? My 456 stroker using a 440 crank and rods has the pin intersecting the oil ring and has been perfectly fine, just uses a support rail under the oil ring.
My last sbc did too. Just clarifying that a r/b w/ 7.1 rods , does not --------

I have a low deck 512 heading to the dyno this month. It is a pump gas street type engine with a hyd roller cam but it should make close to 600 hp with dyno headers.

Just wondering, do all big blocks build some crankcase pressure? I noticed the filters on your valve covers. I have had 3 different motors push the valley pan up, in 30 years, due to high crankcase pressure. Insufficient venting, plus a fair amount of blow by past the rings, I suppose. What's the story on this? I had a vac u pan hooked to my 496 headers, and it still blew one up. Any ideas?

Please share the results once you get it dyno'd. What's the rpm range on the camshaft? I started this thread as a tool for me to see if I can accomplish my goals without boost, builds like yours are what I'm looking for.
That engine made 570 hp at 5700 rpm with a carb and a Performer RPM, so I figure with the ported Trick Flow intake it should get close to 600. The cam is 246@050 which might be one step larger than you want for super smooth street driving, but it works okay in a lighter car with some gears out back. All depends on where you want to split the balance between low speed manners and higher speed power.

Decided to start a thread documenting my 512 build. Like one of our members here said, every motor is an experiment of 1. Something like that. Might make more sense, and easier to understand, for each guy building a stroker motor to document the build from start to finish. And, of course, posting dyno results or 1/4 mile ETs on completion. After all, SPRING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER! Lets get started. May the best motor win! LOL
