Built a 505 stroker 3 years ago with stock Eddy heads, 10.5;1 compression and mild flat tappet hydraulic cam...went 11.70 at 115....
Very good street manners, just like a grocery getter with rotten fuel mileage...lol
Year 2...put on more carb and, at end of season , switched to solid roller cam .580 lift....Went 11.42 at 119....
Still excellent street manners and couldn't intimidate a Honda if my life depended on it just with sound.....
Year 3 ...some fine tuning and jets etc. and car runs 11.05 at 123 mph...still VERY docile and driveable with sufficient vacuum for power brakes....
My point is this...the stroker will eat up lots of cam lift and duration and choke on unported heads....
I'm upgrading to ported Indy heads and max wedge intake and the car will still be acceptably streetable.....
Don't be afraid to spec more cam than the cam manufacturers recommend on the web sites because that recommendation is based on stock engine size..
