512 with 440-1 heads. Dyno Results are in

Thanks man.
My first MOPAR was a stock 71 Charger R/T I bought back in 1978. 16 yrs old starting my senior year in high school. Yellow and black, of course, but InViolet/Plum Crazy has taken the place of B5 blue as my 2nd favorite MOPAR paint color behind Lemon Twist :)

If the weather cooperates, the first Friday in May I will hit the track for a test and tune. The season opener is last weekend in May.
As long as I can get 3-4 hits on the car before that to make sure everything is happy, I will be ready to go.

As for the aluminum block it is at machine shop jail. But I’m ok with that right now as the sooner it is done, the sooner I have to pay for it LOL. All kidding aside though, I’d guess they will have it on the machine in the next month or so to get it squared up and measured.

Then the head scratching begins as I know I’ll be in the 9’s with that motor.
I am short some safety equipment to run that fast. Decisions decisions.

The question then becomes where do you draw the line? 9’s quickly become 8.50 once you upgrade the cage! I’m going to the 8.50 cage but I’d hate to cut that car up beyond that. Yours is much nicer than mine so that’s gotta be a real struggle!

Yeah I am at a crossroads for sure. If the 512 plays nice this year, there is no real panic to get the other motor together.
A second car adds much expense. I really need to think on this one awhile.

Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes with the old heads and the reworked manifold vs the ported heads and the basically untouched manifold.

I have a feeling I will be pleasantly surprised. I base that on how well the 440 worked with these same heads last year.
If I’m lucky it may only be a 1/10th off what it originally ran?

Will know in about 2 1/2 weeks hopefully.

On another note it will be interesting to see what the -1’s you did for me will do on top of a bigger piston in that aluminum block.

We could be having some heads up races this year Wooks.

I’m due to beat you. Your 2-0 record against me needs to change.

I don’t think so.

Hey Wooks look what landed in my garage this morning. A very nice set of Doug's 452 headers, thank you very much!

I was holding them up in place and it doesn't look good for fitting into the Dart, but, the TTI's on the Plymouth do fit the Dart so it looks like the plan is going to be a header swap on the 64, at end of the season.
Thanks again Wooks!

Glad you like man. They are a well constructed header. They would fit that 64 I’m sure just fine. Be an interesting test to swap mid season and see if there is any change. Good or bad.

I'm hoping for a good season with no repairs at all. I'm only hoping to have to put the steel hood with hemi scoop back on, and you know what that would be...(9.99)
The header swap is scheduled for fall and wall art until that time.

Looks like the weather is finally going to cooperate this Saturday. Will be hitting the track to see what number it run.
