The first Leal 65 A990 car that he raced in 65 and the brown 65 car driven by Ed Eckenrode are the same car. Ed helps us on our car.
The 65 A990 car that Leal drove in the 70's was built by Ron Butler in California. Ron worked for Carol Shelby then went on his own and started building Pro Stock cars back in the 70's (a lot of the Rod Shop and the Carlton cars were Butlers) Leal's Butler Built A990 is still considered one of the trickest cars in S/S history. The Butler built car went to Bagwell.

early2drsedan, Frank Lupo's original '64 which he still owns was a local car for me. My '64 being parked next to it twice while have work done at Fairbanks, and seeing it run many times at my home track Dover. If I'm not mistaken the 2 '64 Dodge 330 Strickler/Jenkins, The Dodge Boys 602 & 603 cars were converted to 2% A/FX cars before being sold. Lupo's '64 330 is the Strickler/Jenkins Cantankerous Dodge A/MP 216 which served as the Fairbanks test car.

Furyus - Which Jenkins car is Lupo's 602 or 603?

Thanks for the post.

One more classic....................

Nice shots... I've never the tuning shorts before!

KD Belvedere 1, The Lupo car is neither 602 or 603, it is the former Strickler/Jenkins car named CANTANKEROUS. The photos of it is at my old track Dover Drag Strip in Wingdale, NY. She wore these colors while based in Stamford, CT. at Fairbanks. It is an original lightweight Hemi car. Stickler moved on to a '65 Coronet and Jenkins moved onto the '65 Belvedere Black Arrow.

The 602 & 603 cars were 2% cars with fender openings enlarged and vent widows removed and replaced with lexan.
