Here's one you guys may have seen. It's Petty's graveyard behind his shop. (or so they say) The rarest car there is a early A Barracuda that Richard and crew campaigned for a short time on the drag strip when they were boycotting NASCAR regarding the Hemi. tmm

Cool Pics! Pretty cool that a factory built engine could put out a horse/cube back in the early 60's. They did it with cylinder heads, cams with heavy duration and lots of compression.

Have a good Friday! I hope you have spring in your step today like this starter does. lol tmm

1963 Savoy/Fury

I just picked up this car. It is a Mexican version with a Savoy 213 VIN but with Fury trim. It is a slant 6 with a 3 speed on the column. There are a few design differences between the American version and the Mexican version which doesn't make sense, but it is true. Notice the rear hub design in the last pic.

I am planning on making either a police car or a taxi. Any suggestions? Police or taxi?

I know it needs a lot of work, but that is half the fun.

I vote police car. As far as the hub goes, all 8 3/4's 64 and earlier had that style hub. That was the first thing to go in my 64. Have fun! Rene'

Yes but on the American cars the hub is connected to the drum. On this car I can take the drum off without pulling the hub. The car has new brakes all the way around now.

A couple more Ramcharger pics. tmm

Ahhh I didn't put that together. weird. So was the paint scheme on police cars of the era in Mexico the typical black with white doors?

I really don't know what color was used here. I am American and I am going to do it probably black and White or maybe blue and White.

I'd do it as a Border Patrol car- makes sense

Did they have border control cars back in 1963?

Hey guys, you should check out http://copcar.com/ Lots of Mopar cop cars there! You could start a separate thread here and include everyone interested in old cop cars. I'll bet there's quite a few owners here on FBBO. Here's a couple photos I found there. Interesting the back doors aren't painted. tmm
