64 426 street wedge?????????

Just to help out here, I have in my possesion a 1964 426 four barrel engine rated at 385 hp. 12.5 comp., 520 lift cam max wedge heads, basicly a four barrel version of high comp max wedge engine, nascar used it in road races, manifolds are out there if you look

Ive seen several Nascar single x 4bbl manifolds for them. they are not to expensive because there is no real demand for them. I think?? Mopar rated them at no more than 385HP for insurance purposes.

drain some ATF from the trans to reduce the amount of fluid in the converter in an attempt to raise stall speed, then sent memo ,don't do that. then-neutral start with the auto trans, again uh -don't do that.

I should have kept those bulletins from Mopar, young and stupid (now old and stupid) ,I just threw them away. as an FYI the'63 Plymouth Savoy-426 super stock cost $2904.00 out the door. gave them $500.00 cash and my '57 Plymouth 2 door with V-8 and 3 on the tree for another $500.00. leaving a very low payment.it was my only street car, then the dealer called me to come up to Auburn where I bought it and gave me a '53 chevrolet sedan so I wouldn't have to drive the Plymouth every day. ( I did anyway)

That is not true....For 65 Plymouth used that air cleaner decal on the 426-S and only that year.

I have been studying these cars since 1980. I have never seen a 65 Belvedere or Satellite with the air cleaner decal that wasn’t added later. I still say, only the 65 Fury’s came from the factory with the decal.

if anyone cares to look the
1962 Dodge B-body station wagon
is on Ebay for sale now painted in Ramcharger colors, not as good as the original FF-1 Willow green, but that was what he wanted and he owned it at that time, sorry I ever sold it. I did 100% of the change over to the 2 door hardtop and installed the 426 hemi, the only thing I did not do was body prep and paint..

From what I remember back in the day every 426/365 I saw (and I would go around looking for them but most were Plymouths) did have chrome valve covers and the big chrome dome air filter top. I was kind of jealous since my 64 Sport Fury had a 383 4bbl with no chrome.

wasn't the 383 x 4 bbl called the golden Commando?
