I recently purchased a 66 Satellite that was modified by the prior owner.
The rear leaf springs were relocated in to make room for a mini tub job for bigger rear tires. The cars weigh's 4020 lb's with me in it and a full tank of fuel.
The rear of the car always sat low to the point where the leaf springs rub on the fuel tank edges and the spring shackle is laid back and hitting the fuel tank filler tube.
I thought that the rear springs were flat from age, so I replaced them with new Stock Mopar replacement springs. This cured nothing the ride height remains low and all my problem are still there.
How can I raise the ride height to make the rear shackle more straight up and down.
Thanks in advance

Sounds like the car has the wrong front hangers. Some of the ss springs have a body front segments requiring different front hangers.

The front spring pockets look like the ones that are available for Moper HP parts and are welded in and appear to be at the same height and location from the front to the rear of the car as the original spring mounts. The only difference being that they were moved in toward the center of the car to make room for the tub job.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Has anybody have any luck with running Cal-Trac bars on the street? How should they be set up?

if your front spring perches are welded to the body then they could have moved them up and lowered the rear.can you still see the four bolt holes where the original ones went?you will prob have to remove the welded ones and replace them with new ones.i have also heard if you switch sides on those perches that it lowers the car about 2 inches, they could have done that as well.

If I can offer you any measurements, let me know....
I just dropped my rear axle and spring perch's out of mine last night. I'm punching two new sets of holes "1 3/4" forward" for the spring eyelet bolts to go through. The S/S spring perch holes set the rear axle to far back! The driveshaft is out of the trans by this amount as well.... The shackles were not correct either, as they were angled backwards to far...

I was trying to say that my s/s springs on my 66 net required different front spring hangers so the rear shackles were straight up and in about a half inch at the bottom. I got my springs and hangers from Mancini. I have a 66 net, should be the same. I,m running a 0456 and 0457 spring i believe. When using s/s springs on a b body you need longer front hangers to keep the axle centered in the wheelwell. If you dont the rear shackles will lay forward and wheels wont be centered in the wheelwell.

Thanks for the reply's it lead my in the right direction and what area to look at.
I solved all my issues regarding the rear leaf springs with the help of a chassis builder that happens to be a good friend.

When the leaf springs were moved in for the tub the new shackle mounts were located 2 inches above the old mounting. We solved this by using a 2 in longer shackle that we fabricated in the shape of an H for support, no more scraping on the fuel tank.
We than took apart the new spring set, cut the eyes of the longest leaf of the old spring set and added it to the new set. This sounds crazy but it worked I gained about an inch in ride height and stiffen the mushy springs.
This winter I plan on replacing the rear shackles with custom mounted spring sliders.
Thanks again

I need a recommendation on what S/S springs to use on my application. My car is a 1966 Satellite with 440/512 and 727 automatic. I have read that the 66-67 cars had a factory curb weight of around 3300lbs with a big block, which seems wrong. I am looking at the following springs:
MP 3600lb - P3690460/P3690461
MP 3800lb - P3690454/P3690455
MP XHD - P4452982/P445283

The springs i mentioned above are ss for a 3400 pound car. I figured the manual steering, mini starter aluminum heads, aluminum intake and headers chopped another couple hundred pounds off my car.

Does your car hook up good? Do you have full stock interior? My car will be sporting much of the same except power steering. My combination: 440/512, Stealth heads, Weiand 8009 intake, 11:1 compression, and Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller(@.050 230/236, ADV 281/287, Lift w/1.6 is 622/625). Transmission is TCI Super Street Fighter with 10" 3000 stall converter. Rearend is 8.75 with sure grip and 3.23 gear ratio. Tire on rear is Hoosier DOT Quick Time 275 55 14 on 14 X 8 wheel with 4.75 back spacing. The tire is comparable in size to 255 60 15 maybe a little wider.

What kind of power are you making? Have you been to track with your combo? I have some people saying the S/S springs do not have good street manners. Are they really stiff? The drag racer in me wonders why I even asked that question. If they hook that is what I am looking for, right.

Mine ride fine...... I don't think it's too stiff at all!

I,m bout the same as you. Street car, full interior 440/500 .585 adv lift solid roller with ported ezs, thru a ptc that flashes about 3500. Guessing near 600 ponys. Never tracked it,no cage.It hooks good with the 28x9 slicks on it but annihilates the 235 15 bfgs.Go figure huh.It plants the slicks well as long as the roads good. Rides good. I have been playing around with gears. Have 4.57s in there now. Usually run 4.10s

I think the devilish one is right. Seems I remember ALL the SS springs on a B body require the longer front hangers. I could be mistaken, but I think that's right. I know a lot of them do at least. The reason is because the SS springs have a much shorter front segment, so the front hanger must be longer in order to reach the spring. It just happens to work out that the A bodies don't require it.

My 66 Satellite which has been tubed and the subframes connected weights 4020 pounds with a full tank of fuel. I had a hell of time coming up with spring set that would keep a lower ride height and not look all jacked up. The Mopar XHD springs are soft and I had to add an extra full length leaf to make them work.
Spend the extra $ and have a custom set made a Eaton Detroit Spring. Look them up online

Very nice and EZ's to boot. Wow, 4.57 on the street. I have run 4.30's and 4.10's on the street but want something I can take on long hauls on the interstate. You know what I mean.

You can do 4.57s on the interstate. Just set that baby on 50 and plan on bein late for lunch.
