66' Charger Value?

I see! Ok, thanks man... appreciate it... green on some cars i do like, and with me yep, i think it looks nice, maybe not all that money nice but could live with it..

It is kind of a funny thing The dark green cars with white interior seem to less effected by it, but a Green w/ black or green is REALLY hard to sell.

The really funny thing is that green was the most popular color on car back in the day when they wer new.

Ive seen a lot of cars at different places like the one i just left for Stumper, The exterior and interior looks so good and then under the hood nothing done.. Is there a reason behind this or just some people don't want to take the time, ive wondered a long time about it, now is as good as anytime to ask..

I see some like this at car shows!!! Never could understand why someone would go through the trouble and effort of getting the exterior cleaned up and leave the engine bay looking like crap. I used to think that a dirty unrestored engine bay was a sure way to lose a show - but then I saw one like that win a couple months back .... :edgy:

Now to me ... that Charger, green or not, with a dirty engine bay and a 318 in it is still worth the $9K asking price. To be able to get into any old classic that has a good body and interior and drives is worth $10k.

Here's a cool gen 1

Thanks, I can trust you but the color green? Ive never seen a green one before, red, black, yellow orange and mine was white, i think white was average ive seen them silver. Is green not original here is what you mean or just not desirable?

1970 Riddler winner Green 66 & a couple more just for the heck of it...

66 charger value

About 5-6 months ago I sold a pretty nice 66 charger. Aside from a small rust area in the rear floor pan it was otherwise rust free. Still had 90% original paint, (pale yellow) with an excellent original black interior and all tinted glass. Very straight car.
It had a non original but correct 318 w/auto. It ran and drove very well.
The electroluminesent dash needed work.... has a new reprocuction tail light lense, needed bumpers rechromed and the trim polished up a bit, but was complete.
Sold for $5700.00 if I remember right. It was a tough sale for such a nice car.

my brother in law came across one a few years ago,but this one had a hemi, power windows and the small factory wing on the trunk lid. it was all original, and needed resto. not being a mopar guy, he sold it for 45,000

I Believe that green was a popular color, my 68 RR was green, my 69 RR was green... Both had black interior which is my favorite.. I do like some cars with the green shades of color (S-Bees, 68 Charger buddy had) and this Charger to me looks good.. Its been said on this site that the 1st gen Chargers are a love them, hate them deal, I don't know why, there a fine car, mine always rode good and i loved the interior in them, i went from a 63 Impala SS to it, the SS wasn't anything to put down but the Charger to me was fancy and better to me then the SS. This past summer i seen a 70 Cuda id say was emerald green, white interior white vinyl top with white stripes and it looked great to me... I think a lot is in what each likes about a specific car..

STUMPER... Im glad im not the only one who HAS noticed the engine, and to hear of one winning with it like that, There must be something in the reason some don't do them, ive seen it to many times, One guy went to a junk yard and bought a 350 engine and put it right in a freshly painted Chevy with all new interior, couldn't understand it. but thanks.. Good luck if your getting one.

BUDNICKS... Thanks for those pics... Always look at the girls, i mean cars.

BLUEFURY.... That sounds like a deal to me for whoever bought the car, if a bit more in price was added to it, id think it would still have been a well placed deal for what you told of the car, Im sure the, again, under rated 318 had a little to do with the price not being any higher maybe.. I don't buy and sell cars like you guys do but that sounds like whoever got it, got a good deal. Now all this is just MHO.

I think the GG1 green looks good on them too. ...and according to the 1966-67 DODGE CHARGER REGISTRY http://www.1966-67chargerregistry.com/ only about 6 percent of them were this shade of green.

Ken

I have a 67. I cant realy compare it to mine mine was a 318 now 440 shaved trim and a lot of mods. I do watch ebay and craigs list. The car you are looking at is in real nice driver shape. If I were to be interested in buying it I would start at 10,000 and not go past 15,000. Good luck it would be a fun car to have.

Well if this is true and its the Poly 318, maybe this would be a good one, I think myself it looks great but cant tell anyone this one or that one is the one to get... I know you aren't saying this, Im Just being clear, the first gen Charger is what started a long cool relationship with Mopars with me.. Im sure he will post what he gets if he buys one.. thanks for the info though!!

Are you referencing the car I started this thread about or the other one that was posted on Ebay for sale?

66 Charger

I just looked at the photos.... I love the detail on the car. It shows a lot of thought and time to keep it right. And I really like the twin stripe white walls, they are a real flashback to "The day".
I doubt that you could duplicate the car for less then 15K, even starting with a nice car. If you can get it for less then that's even better.
JMHO...
Will.

Had someone decode the fender tag for me and it looks like everything is original as presented on this car - options, drivetrain, colors interior, mirrors and even hub caps.

That really has nothing to do with what the car is worth. It cost nearly as much to restore a /6 4 door Dart as it does a GTS but no one will give you the same money for it or what it cost to restore it. It is all about the hobby and what people value them at.

Traditionally 66-67 Chargers have been one the low end of the 60s-70s Charger by a good bit. They are the car that you either love them or hate them. I personally love them but I am in the minority and it is proven out buy there sales prices.

If you have read the entire thread and looked at some of what I have posted you will see that an original 67 440 car just had a high bid of under $10K after running at least 3 times on Ebay and having been listed on Carsonline for $15K for some time. Not my color preference but a nice car still and certainly worth more than the subject 383 car.

Preceived values

WHAT....??

Apples to apples.... the subject 66 Charger can't be built to the existing level for 15K

Value guides, asking prices and high bids on online auctions are not sound indicators of real values. Actual selling prices are.

The survivor 440 67, while being a nice car, lacks the appeal of the subject 66. Condition, color and options all contribute to determine values. The 440 option is rare but rarity does not always dictate value. The condition of the 67 makes it a driver at best, The unpopular color choice dosen't help value either.

I see the 66 as a much better value then the 67 at the same price level. And that is what ever the seller and buyer agree to

I agree with your point of view as well. However the OP was asking for opinions on what to offer and I gave him some current examples of what is out there now and what current buyers are willing to offer.

The 67 440 car is a VERY good comparable. The 440 in my opinion even things out with the subject car with the better color 383 car. They are BOTH driver condition cars.
