I checked back through a bunch of threads, but could not find a direct answer to these questions:

Was a 15" wheel available on a 66 Charger? If so, what would have been the stock sizes?

I am going to get a set of TT D chrome wheels for ours. The rears will be 15x7 with 3.75" BS, and 255-60/15 tires. The front tires will be either 235 or 225-60/15s. Should I use a 7" or 6" wheel for those?

Does anyone see any fitment issues with these sizes?

Thanks for any input you can provide.

No. Even the Hemi cars came with 14"X5.5" wheels which were the largest avaialble B body wheel in 1966.

That size rear tire will fit a 66-67 Coronet and the Chargers have a MUCH larger wheel well so they will be no problem. I would step up the rear tire size and either 6" or 7" will be fine.

You may want to check that size on the front as it may rub on tight turns, I believe the 235s would be a better choice. The front wheel well is the same on the Coronet so many here should be able to answer this one.

Right now the car has 255-60/15s front and rear, and the fronts do rub. However, the tires are on a set of 15x7 cop wheels that have 4.25 backspacing. I am now looking at a set of 15x8.5 with 3.75 BS wheels for the rear, which should fit the 255 tires better. The math tells me they'll fit, but it's tough not actually having the car to put my hands on.

We have a very original 66 charger with 14" wheels and original caps. I want to keep the original wheels on the car - what are the largest size tires that will work and where can I find them?

Coker made a 225/75r14 redline that I would have been happy with, and I found some at NewstalgiaWheel, but the size disappeared about a month ago. I liked the raised stance of the 227/75 and I'd like to stick with radials. Thanks.

Why stay with the standard wheels? If you are going to radials you are loosing your stock look so why not upgrade to 15" wheels with more tire size choices and fill up the wheel well that improves the looks of the car.

Well, I agree and I'm looking for the right set of 15" cop wheels and caps as a swap set, but I still want to be able to keep it as original looking as possible, but a little tougher - the car has all original dark turquoise paint/interior/drivetrain (383/4 barrel/727/suregrip). It still has the certicard. Anyway, any help with 14" meatier tires would be appreciated. Thanks
