67 R/T... Back to Life

Today was a good day! The car is out of the body shop and home.

I can't say enough for the guys at Lucky 7 Rod Shop in Stewartstown PA. Car stayed on track for the most part and they stuck to budget. Communication was terrific and no BS or spin. Car looks fantastic and it's not even cut and buffed yet. Once the car sits for a month I'll be jumping on that task. I'll have some posts about that part of the process. After disassembly the car was media blasted and in epoxy over Labor Day last year. After that it was weekend work to do metal work, panel alignment, and rough body work. Car was dropped off at Lucky 7 in March. I'll call that Labor to Memorial Day to get the car to this point. Point is, paint and body does not take years if your persistent and get a good shop to work with you.

Let's see if we can get some real wheels under this thing tomorrow.

Got a lot done today.

Trim tag was bead blasted and then very minimal material used to cover it. Painter painted the screws, I'm leaving them painted for the time being. It looked like one was originally phosphate or black oxide and the other was natural or clear zinc. Have to do some research on that one.

Brake lines and fuel line were all from Inline Tube. Everything fit well other than taking out the shipping bend. I chose to use stock appearing steel lines vs stainless. Brake valve and screw are the original ones just cleaned up. All clips are the original ones to the car also. Rear brake hose hanger was evaporust'd and cleaned up, original also.

Under side of the car was an original undercoat car and there was no rust. I decided to leave it alone and scrub it very well before it went for paint. I also top coated it with PPG trim black.

Rear end is installed and I'll unveil the wheel and tire package.

Springs were from Espo in stock configuration. All hangers are original and rear hanger nuts are re-clear zinc plated. E-brake cable kit is from Inline Tube also, OE kit.

Wheels are US Mags 15x7 all around and tires are 225/70-15 BFG Radial T/As.

Now for the big moment! Engine assembly K frame is installed. I got most of the suspension and steering snugged down before I ran out of gas.

I did things a bit out of order in regards to the firewall but I'm try to clean up on of my garage bays quickly. Putting big parts together was the quickest way to do that. Having a car completely blown apart takes up a lotta room.

Very Nice! Glad to hear it went well, I've heard way to many horror stories.

I did the same with my undercoating. Had the blaster knock off what was loose and i was able to have the texture duplicated. Looks awesome keep up the good work.

Love that Color!!!!

Lots going together this weekend. I did not take a bunch of pictures, too busy wrenching I guess.

Everything that I got so far aftermarket or repop I should say is pretty good. Brake lines are good except for the block to the MC, they're not even close. Seems like they're for non power brake. Exhaust is good too, I have one concern I need to follow-up with Gardners on Monday. Here's what's on so far:

Dash insulation/pads, heater box, vent box, brakes booster/MC, pedal, all suspension, brake lines, fuel lines...

Car is on its tires once again rock'n the 4x4 look, pulled it outside to let the paint bake. You could really smell it curing in the sun. Wet sand and buff in a couple weeks.

Love the slots!
That was the day 2 wheels my parents car had and I've always been a fan of the slots. Back then they were steel wheel in chrome, at least what they had on theirs. I have a set of original 14" steel wheels with the original full covers for the 'OE' look.

Hood scoop is ready to install. All wet sanded and polished. These are the original louvers rechromed and detailed.

The dash is coming together! I have to give Steve @moparsteve636 a big THANK YOU! He just turned around my dash parts in record time, not that I was looking for that but it was impressive. Parts look fantastic also!

Dash pad just got back from ABC Moparts as well, I'm very pleased with the dash pad too. Turn around on that was super quick too.

wow. that dash looks like jewelry.

watermelon

Steve did a fantastic job on the dash bezels, I'm very impressed. I used the 'other' company out on the west coast a couple years ago for a little red express truck dash and it took over 6 months to get my parts back.

Thank you!
