Hello fellow Mopar nuts!

I have finally started working on my 68 Coronet 500 restoration and first task is decoding the fender tag (unfortunately no build sheet so far).

Here is what I have from the tag
First Line: a6 b4 h7 m6
Second Line: H1 R1 X2
Third Line: 19 25 78 AX1 TRM-P6W PMI-WP2 UBS-W
Fourth Line: WP23 61 5 33 A30 095959

I have used multiple sources referenced here to find the following
WP23 = Dodge Coronet 500 2-door hardtop

Moldings 19 (Wide Sill) 25 (Drip Rail) 78 (Wheel Lip)
H1 Power Brakes
R1 AM Radio
X2 Tinted Windshield front only
a6 Console
b4 Bucket Seats
h7 Fender Turn Signal Indicators
m6 Drivers Remote Mirror

Other attributes from various decoders
383 2 BBL V8 (someone converted to 4 BBL) prior to my ownership
3 Speed Automatic
Tires 7.35x14
Build Date Oct 30, 1968
Axle 2.76 ratio
Interior - Premium Trim Grade, Vinyl bucket seats, White on Black Interior
Two tone paint - White upper, Red lower

Things I still don't know:
Where was this car built?
What do the number 61 5 33 A30 in the VIN code signify?

Also is there a forum (like they have on E-bodies Only) for members project cars? I can post progress pics!

Thanks in Advance for any help!

Yes they have Member Garages here.

A30 is the "scheduled build date", starting with 1-9 would be Jan-Sept, A,B,C are Oct-Dec, so yours says Oct 30. Also the codes for your tires & engine.

VIN# should show the plant code that built your car.

You've made 21 posts in 15 years. Glad you're finally starting to work on it. Sounds like a cool Coronet, will like seeing the progress.

Finally figuring out how to shrink photo file sizes so they will upload - here are pics of the tag.

Thanks for the info on the codes. Is there any way to figure out manufacturing plant if it is not on the Fender tag?

Don67Satellite - the Coronet project has been stalled while we did three additions to the house and have also been working on complete restoration of a 71 Challenger RT. That resto is nearing completion so I have stripped down the Coronet and delivered it to the body shop. I will start a thread on Member Garage!

Given that:

the tag does not show typical St. Louis plant stampings
the tag does not show typical Lynch Road Markings
the poster is in California
the tag shows typical LA plant small font.....

I'm going to guess it's from the LA plant and the VIN is WP23G8E116XXX or 117xxx

Thanks this makes sense to me too!

If you look at the top of this Forum "1968-1970 mopars" there's a Sticky "Something to help decode your vin and fender tag 1968 only"
