Got some done over the weekend and a couple hours today.Had a little snag in the action over the weekend as my 25+ year old welder took a crap.Ended up getting a Hobart 140.Did get the trunk pans in and welded up.Next i started on the driver side floor pan.Got that out and had to address a soft spot in the torsion crossmember repaired that and installed the new pan today.Next up is the pass side. Also found a pic of what it looked like new to inspire me of what i hope it will look like when done.

Bummer about the welder but thats a Beauty of a GTX, Love that vinyl top, They always seem to make them a bit sharper, i know some don't like them but just saying, it does set it off good...

Good work Jay! Keep it up.
I sold a hood to Spauldo in northern MN and he arranged shipping using U-ship, anyway the guy that came to pick it up mentioned being from WI. I mentioned that I new a couple of guys from WI and when he asked what part, I said Ogdensburg. He asked your name and when I told him he said he knew you. I guess his wife works at the bar in town. His name is Jay and his wife is Paula, but I don't know his last name. Small world!

Yep i do know him and his wife, small world indeed.

Did get going on the pass side floor, removed and some pretty heavy fabbing on that torsion member end.Pretty much built a T-Cap from scratch by the time i was done, also added some 2x3 tubing on the inside for added strength.Need to finish up the welding on the pan and that part will be history. Then it will be time for the 1/4s.

Wrapped up the pass side floor today and did get started on the dr.side 1/4.What a shocker junk wheel house and rusty inner rocker.lol
That will be the next endeaver.I swear this car spent more time on dirt roads that it did on paved ones with the amount of dirt in it.Must of been a half a ice cream bucket in the rear end of that rocker.

I figured it would look like that under that quarter and you're right I was told that it did spend quite some time up north which would have entailed some dirt roads for sure. That would also explain why it is structurealy so clean from the doors forward.

Same car I bought new in 68. Same color and top except I had the white stripes. Man o man at the memories you have opened up! Please keep sharing.

Today went well, repaired the rotton inner rocker. The outer wheel house looked to be a pain in the rear to change it out as the complete unit so i cheated and cut the bad and welded in the new and also got the trunk extensiion in.Have a little prep work yet on the 1/4 but that should be hung tommorow.

keep 'er up!!!

Did get the dr side 1/4 hung and just need to finish welding the top seam up yet.Started on the pass side today.Removed the 1/4 and low and behold more rot.Inner rocker was alittle more of a challenge on this side as it was rotted through the back side also.Lots of dirt again and found my missing seat foam.lol Did get that finished and also got the wheelhouse installed.

More progress and i have been slackin on the pics but i have been giviner on it.1/4s are done and welds all ground.Had to patch the pass rocker about mid point as well as some patches on the tail panel.Started getting the rust free front fenders i picked up ready to go,one was from a SP Satty and had the upper trim holes that needed welding.

Still need to pull the back glass as the is some work in the lower channel to do but starting to get a handle on the metal work.Maybe some pics next weekend.

Looks good. When you pull the back glass take a picture of the back widow clips loose in your hand. There have been a huge discrepancy on a forum I started. The cutouts were not deep on the sides of the clips and the new clips I bought would not give when snapping in your new moulding. Thanks.

Nice car, and nice work!!! I'll be following this one...

Wow! You work fast. I love it when I see another one saved!! Great!

More progress, ended up replacing the doors as well.Bought a nice rust free pair from a local member and spent last weekend swapping out the glass and hardware and getting them hung.Swapped out the rotton rear deck lid today and got the rear finish panel holes marked out and drilled.
Did end up getting most of the loose ends wrapped up on the cars bottom side over the last few weeks, new fuel tank, lines, brakes and new lines, new exhaust from the manifolds back. The old AVS carb was rebuilt, had to replace the fuel pump and a fresh set of plugs.Fired her up and it runs like a champ with no funny noises or smoke.Ran the trans through all the gears and seems to be good to go as well.
Next on the list will be swapping out the crusty front fenders.

Hey Jay I'm glad to hear she is running good for you, I knew she would! The guy I got it from did say that the father of a friend(something like that) did the engine work and he was a professional tech. Tou are making this one look too easy, keep it up brother!
