Hi guys, I need your help on this one. I got a call from a guy responding to a Craig’s list posting a friend of his sent him. Long story short, he has a 68 roadrunner 440 6 pack 4 spd and needs to sell it in the next month. It was his son’s car and he was killed in Iraq. He’s not that computer literate so I said I’d help him out and post a thread here to help determine the vehicles worth and try to sell it. He is in Phoenix, AZ and the car is a southwest car so no rust. He sent me the pic below of the engine and I asked him for more pics. He said the car is pretty complete, not smashed up, and doesn’t look like it has been restored, but will need a restoration. Good solid car to start with according to him. This is all I know about the car. Please let me know if you can provide a range as to what this car could be worth. If you want the seller’s contact info please PM me and I’ll provide it. I’m just trying to help out a fellow soldier’s family.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide!
Paul

First of all 68 RR's didn't come with 440's much less 440+6's. Still a desirable engine in that car and should be considered in the price, however the only thing to really consider is the six pack itself. We'll need more pics and info to make a better guess on price.

I'm sorry to hear about the tragedy.

A dead soldiers car, that's a car that comes with some serious baggage. I hope it goes to a good home, hopefully to someone who can perhaps realise some part of the previous owners dream because the new owner could not possibly forget who once owned it.
Being a soldier myself, I don't think I could own it, would make me think too much.

I would bet that it is a scam! Ask him about seeing the car and payment!

was checking out a truck gave me the same story and when I said it was too far for me to get a car they offered me free shipping across country all I had to do was send the money first. (red flag)and the price for 2000 ram w/ deisel was only 2grand .oh and she was deaf so she couldnt talk to me on the phone, would not even get someone else to talk for her. Some times people have no morals! making up stories like that to get money.By the way I want to thak every one who served!!

Humm something doesnt sound right about this

If the owner of said vehicle sent only one image of a engine without any other images, I kinda think hey probably dont have a car they have a dream to pray on unsuspecting people looking for a bargain. Hope I am wrong on this. Having said that hundreds of peple are scammed everyday with tons of pix of legitimate vehicles that are taken off the internet and purported to be owned by the scammer. best wishes !

Turns out he’s been parting out the car. If you’re interested in finding out more of what he has for sale see the thread I posted in the parts for sale forum at:

http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?t=15245

I hope the scammer thoughts are no true. If it is true you don’t want t be the scammer using this as your story when my friends in uniform and me find out… :angryfire:

Have a nice day!
