I was bolting up the exhaust and seen that my center link is almost against my oil pan. I assume I need a different oil pan? IMG_6738.jpg

What number pan is on it now? Should have a 402. Also check your motor mounts for damage

Pan number is stamped on the bottom of the pan, can't miss it.

You can if it is not a factory pan. Milodon or a Chinese knock off may fit different.
I have plenty of clearance with a Hemi pan on my 440/493. Something is amiss with your combo. Either the pan is too deep or your motor mounts are too thin, allowing the engine to sit lower. Maybe your trans mount is bad?
There was only one center link used for all engines, so you can't have the wrong link. Unless the steering box and idler are in wrong, it isn't likely that the steering is to blame here.

Like the others said.... I've always seen 3/4 to 1" clearance. Motor mounts, trans mount are possibilities. Without the 402 stamping, cheap replacement pan??

The pan and pickup tube was donated to me by a outstanding fellow member on here. The engine was out of a motorhome, so the stock pan obviously wouldnt work. I guess I need to shop for a new pan, which is going to be hard since my parts list is already way over budget.

Do a search on here for "402", there are often pans in the for sale or trade section.

Also when you do get the right pan, ensure your pickup is the proper fit for it.

I'll send you a 402 pan for free if you pay shipping. It isn't pretty but it will work. Send me a PM with your email address or cell phone number. I can text or email a few pictures of the ones I have.

I thought I had two of these. I must have sold one last year during swap meet season. Anyhow, this one just needs cleaning and paint. Make SURE your oil pickup is compatible!

That looks like a lot more than surface rust. Did you get my message?

It had water sitting in it but it will clean up. If you want to be picky, you'll need to open your wallet. I'm not trying to SELL anything here. I offered it for free. Comments like this can work against you.

It was not my intent for my reply to be offensive. But your right. Thank you

I will try to get a shipping price for you on Friday. I have your address. You will need a drain plug and the gaskets of course.

Thanks, but you don't need to go through all that. I will wait and buy a new one. I appreciate your generosity and help.

Going through my pictures and.....Is it possible that I'm a dumbass and have the pan on backwards? Seems the other side would allow for plenty of clearance. image.jpg

If that is how it is on the engine, you have it right. the drain plug always points either down or to the rear.
The reproduction oil pans are a bit spendy, but they do fit. Mine is a Milodon 6 quart HEMI pan.

Thanks 1968RRTEXAS this has been informative. I had forgotten how much different those motorhome pans are, rear section is deeper. Be sure to get the matching pickup for whatever pan you use.

That is the way I installed it.

My new oil pan from 440 source just got here. Measures the same depth as the one on it. Not sure where to go from here.
