The stamped VIN number XS29M9 does indicate this was from a Six Pack car as the 1969 engine code for the Six Pack is M. I would say that yes, it is a Six Pack engine.

In 1969 the rods used in the Six Pack engines were the same as the general production rods but were special in that they were 100% Magnafluxed inspected. They were not the heavy "Six Pack" rods and the engines were internally balanced in 1969.

$8,800 would appear to be a fair price if the engine was assembled properly.

Having the full VIN on the block tells us the car was built, probably, before 1/1/69 or shortly thereafter as you do not find many cars after this date with the full VIN.
This also tells us the car was built 2-3 months before the 6bbl engine was even installed in A12 cars.
To my knowledge, no 69 Charger 6bbls have ever been documented.
IMHO...it is likely the M is a misstamp, possible restamp or was read improperly.

Yes it does, but it does not say the engine was available in a Charger.
A 178*** VIN at the Hamtrack (B) plant puts the car's SPD about A15 of 1968.
Now we're even further away from when the actual engines were installed in RR's and SB.
The original factory paperwork for the 440-6bbl motors wasn't issued until January of 1969.

IMHO...it is likely the M is a misstamp, possible restamp or was read improperly.

he stated stock...which of course could have hardened seats...valve job on iron stck heads shouldn't go over 600....stock.

Seats, guides, possible valves (45 year old valves probably need replacing), springs, possible retainers, mill to clean up and anyone that likes better performance should do the bowls. Heads are off, so why not. The factory should have done a better job of that in the first place. Still 600 bucks?

No...as the 6bbl would have coded "V" for 70.
The full VIN is, supposed, to be on the block. The full VIN on a block usually ends late Dec/early Jan of 68/69.

Unless, a verified, lock solid documented car shows up, yes the 6bbl was only available in the A12 RR's and SB's.

What is the engine assembly date (EAD) on the top pad?
Can a picture of the VIN stamp, EAD on the pad or pan rail be posted?

Let's get back to the original question....WIW?

A block is a block is a block regardless of the induction system sitting on top of it. A 440 block out of a Chrysler is the same block out of a GTX or A12 Super Bee. What it came out of is mostly irrelevant.

To me...'date correct' means nothing in a post 67 car and adds no additional value. I would not pay extra simply for that perceived value. Others have a different perspective.

A rebuilt engine is 'worth' the sum value of the components used and the quality of the build.
Was the block machined in any way? Who did the work? How was it done?
What quality of components were used? Did they use a cheap off shore junk crank to keep the cost down or high quality parts?
Was the total package properly matched or just thrown together? Does the cam make sense for the compression, head flow and induction?
For what exhaust system was the build done? Stock manifolds? Headers?
How much head work, if any, was done? Who did it? What was the quality and why was it done?
Any receipts or documentation on the build?
What's the reputation of the shop?
Any dyno documentation?
How complete is the package? What more do I need to do?

Focus on the quality and completeness of the package, not what it came from. An original assembly is 45+ years old. Even if it was 'special', the value of that assembly is long gone and means little except to the person that owns that specific car and trying to reunite the engine with the body. Who would buy and run an original engine with original parts this far down the line with out replacing things?

There's more but I think you get the jist. Beware of sales speak. Ask A LOT of questions. Ask for proof of claims. Trust but verify. The last thing you need is to drop 6K+ into a mismatched grenade.

I can't tell the whole VIN but a 177*** VIN and 9 11 assembly date is way too early for an A12 6bbl car.
Is that a "B" I see in the VIN? Again, wrong plant and for 6bbl car. Wrong VIN range for a B body.

Bogus restamped VIN. WM (Super Bees) were not made at Hamtramck (B plant). 9B177**** is an A body VIN at 69 Hamtramck. It's not even for an XS29L9B Charger. M code on a block six months before they were released.
