'69 charger r/t-se: Building my dream car

Welcome !!

Welcome to FBBO. :hello: That is One Heck of a Nice Job You`re doing there! :icon_thumright: Most people on here know what it takes too get these cars back into shape & then there`s the ones like yourself ,that go the extra mile!! :walk: Looks like you`ve put alot of Blood, Sweat & Tears ,into that already!! :buffer: Keep the car **** coming. :eek:s_dancing2:

Welcome to FBBO, love the car and the direction your going with it. I'm currently working on a charger as well going for the same kind of look (restomod charger post), I like the back on black color scheme as well. I've been struggling with wheel and tire selection as well "they can make or break a cars look" but really like your combo and would love to see some better angles of the tires. I'll be following your progress.

Thanks 6pack! I'm definitely going over the car with a fine-tooth comb lol and as Stuntman Mike would say, I've got miles to go before I sleep. Haha :icon_thumleft:

Awesome! i'll have to find your build thread and check it out. And that's for sure, I did about a month of research before I decided on mine. From what I've seen, 18" wheels all the way around are too big (for my taste, see Fast Furious 5 Charger), 17" all the way around with bigger meats on the rear wheels looks good, but if you can nail the right width/backspacing/tire size then the staggered 17" front 18" rear starts to look real sharp.

The Charger has some deep rear wheelwells so it was important to me to really fill them out and avoid that "sucked-in wheel" look as well. I'll post some more pictures when I get back to work on it tonight or tomorrow :icon_thumleft:

lee.jpgI really like this look, probably a little much for your taste 18-19.

Extreme Lee! Haha :icon_thumleft: actually those look good. The gorgeous "Big Time" '69 that Year One did had the same combination I think. I still like some cars with 18/19's, just a personal thing on my car I still wanted a lot (as much as I could get away with anyway) of meat to the tires. I ended up taking the most influence from this one

Here's some better shots of the wheel/tire combination, rear leaves partially unbolted still and rear spacers not installed.

That was quick, thanks for posting the pics. I didn't think I would like that style of wheel on my car but you have me second guessing, very nice. Most wheels I have found are 2,400-2,800 for a set "that's ridiculous". Finding 10" wide and 0 offset really narrows the selection down fast. Thanks

Haha yeah I'm on here everyday and try to work on the Charger at least a little every night. But yeah I had the same problem when I was looking at wheels, with an entire car to build I didn't want to drop that many clams on just wheels. Mine are Coys "C5" 17x8 with a 4.5" backspacing up front, and 18x9.5 with what I think will be a 5" backspace with the spacers installed. Fits nice and looks good and the full set ran me $1100. 10" wide rears would've been awesome but ill save that expense for when the car is back on the road haha

Car looks great! Hope to have my coronet at your stage in about 6 months. Oh, and howdy from portland!

I envy you, I'm lucky if I get to work on mine anytime other than Fr & Sat NIGHTS "married with children". Oh well, I wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoy

Awesome find and makes a lot of us envious seeing how nicely preserved your car is! Definatly creating a beautiful machine there. Enjoy.

WOW awesome job on the Charger Mr. SpeedFreak. Keep the pics coming I'm getting a few ideas for my 69 Coronet from what you are doing. :)

Thanks guys! Busy weekend but I managed to drop the gas tank out of the car, naturally still almost full of old gas/rust lol. Found a good deal on a repop tank and stainless sending unit for $175, just short the filler tube seal/grommet. Damn I love eBay :icon_thumleft:

A little dirty but a decent shot of the undercarriage as far back as I've stripped and painted.

Next on the list, pulling the rear end for detailing and painting, and finishing the rest of the undercarriage.
