I had thought the 1x2 piece was something that was added when it was recovered. But upon inspection it had the original staples in it. Also I doubt the would have used spiral headless nails to attach it. I will use some liquid nails and a couple stainless screws to put it back together.
Yup I'd say that's about 40+ yrs young!

I actually liked cleaning my garage up after working out there. Somehow, every tool in my box would migrate to the workbench. Nice work so far, glad you are still on it!
Your right, I get to the point I can't find things it's time to regroup.

Just checked with legendary interiors they list a arm rest kit but I need to confirm that's the same as buddy seat. Also can anyone tell me if the bucket seat back should March the seats. I have the dark blue metallic interior, but the backs look to be just dark blue. Not sure what is correct as my car has been altered numerous times.

No they don't have molded foam for rear seats.

My solid motor mounts showed up today. I thought they might let the engine set a little lower to help with hood clearance. But after measuring they pretty close to the schumakers. How everything they are the full .187 thick, unlike the smuckers which are .130 and rated for 600 hp max. Well with being at 590 I think I'll go ahead and switch them out for piece of mind, should done that from the start and saved myself some $ & headache.
So After blasting the metal parts & spraying some black on them I put the wood block back on. I used some tig rod to line everything up, put a little wood glue on then put 2 wood screws in.

Yeah I was amazed myself.
Well I managed to squeeze in some time this weekend. Helped (did most the work) Sis with siding on her house, got about 1/3 done.
Anyway I dug the dash out and welded all the extra drilled holes in the bottom of it.
Notice the huge one just to the right of the ash tray, not sure what that was for! Next I'll be cutting in the holes for the AC vents. Then on to prime & paint.

Also got my rear seat emblem apart and bead blasted. I then used a stone to smooth out some of the pits. Going to try the Eastwoods chrome powder coat on it. I'll post pics after it's done. Trying to get it done for the upholstery guy.

Just getting caught up on your build, your making great progress. Sorry to hear about your garage buddy, condolences. and you too daytona Kid. Lost our chocolate lab 13 months ago. Still bummed.
So last nights endeavor was to cut the holes for the AC vents in the factory locations. I bought a AC dash with all the goodies, using it for a pattern. First I grabbed my calipers to get measurements and get it laid out. The correct lines are black. Took to tries to get it right.
Next I used a cut off wheel on my 4" grinder to cut the holes.
I used a sanding wheel to finish the openings to size. I was able to keep them within .020 of the oem openings on the other dash so that was pretty good. I'll get the vents out to test fit before I go to paint. I found a couple thing to address while comparing the to dash frames. Mine had been a drag car for a while so some stuff got hacked up. A harness clip was cut and a bracket was gone.
