I had thought the 1x2 piece was something that was added when it was recovered. But upon inspection it had the original staples in it. Also I doubt the would have used spiral headless nails to attach it. I will use some liquid nails and a couple stainless screws to put it back together.

Well I managed to squeeze in some time this weekend. Helped (did most the work) Sis with siding on her house, got about 1/3 done.
Anyway I dug the dash out and welded all the extra drilled holes in the bottom of it.View attachment 530841 View attachment 530842 View attachment 530843
Notice the huge one just to the right of the ash tray, not sure what that was for! Next I'll be cutting in the holes for the AC vents. Then on to prime & paint.
