So while I'm waiting for the package to arrive I thought I'd work on the grille a bit. So my thinking is to paint the red first, I'm lousy at freehand brushing so I figured I could do better taping the red stripe . I also thought I'd paint the complete surface to keep the tape from pulling the paint up.

So I got my grille paint a couple months ago and didn't really check it. The can for ref said, dark red, tail panel. Hmm should have been my first clue. Anyway I continued on

So first I shake, then squeeze, nothing! I'm starting to feel a trend here. Did I mention I had to fix a leaky hot water heater first thing this morning.

So after some brakeklean and 15 minutes I'm ready to spray. Im thinking this is to dark! Well I went ahead and gave it 2 coats any way just to see how it looks. I'm thinking this is 68 RR/GTX trunk panel red. Looks like I'll be repainting after a scuff & remasking job. Unless someone out there can convince me this is the correct color.

First picture is outside in the sun, second is inside.

Things like that always happen to me also. Every time I get some time to work on the car there is something that happens to delay my progress.
I don't know enough about RR's to know if that is the correct red but it looks good to me.

Looks too dark to me. I have learned to have spare nozzles on hand because this always happens to me too. Brownells is terrible with their epoxy. ..the nozzles that come with the can are too restrictive but their pack of replacements are sized correctly. I complain and they ignore me, guess I'm the only one with issues. /end rant!

Saw a SS wagon at a show last night, mine is definitely to dark. I'll fix that this weekend I hope.

This flawless 68 GTX was at a show last night. Owner has his own body shop, and it showed, a giant black mirror! BTW he also has a 67 & 71 Hemi GTX

Got a good day in the garage today. Starting to look like a dash again.

Outstanding build & attention to detail. The dash looks fantastic. My dash is also blue. Hope that when I get to your point, the sheen & color match turns out half as nice as yours. Jim

Well I decided to fix the practice grille, correct the wrong color on red stripe . I used Krylon 2X apple red. I took out my red stripe that goes on the rockers and tried to match that. It looks much better now. I'll wait a couple days for it to cure then I'll move to the next color.

So next, trying to stay on the dash, AC vent time you can see the one flap got attacked by a mouse at some point, I will see what I can do there. First the outside vents need a shot of SEM black.

When you get a day to work in the shop you get a lot of things done. Your dash looks very good. I remember how much time I spent on each part on my dash and know that there is a lot of work entailed. I can't believe that you would have mice problems there. They are no respecters of cars. :)

The mouse damage was incurred before I got the parts. No mice in my shop!

I used a paint marker to paint the washers and clips, it goes on about like a marker and thought it might keep things from gumming up things.

After painting the housing, I installed the on/off flapper. After cleaning, reinstall it with the big boss down, with the belvue washer at the bottom. And flat on the rod to the back
