I figured I would give the corners a shot. I haven't cut it out yet but I got the inner all cleaned up. There was two layers to take off in there. Then I started fitting the exterior piece. I found the body line to be off about an 1/8". It needed to curve and move inward. I just tapped it over and it lines up nicely. On the inner piece I had to bend the outer edge down a bit as it would have interfered with the final fit. I will be cutting the patch piece down quite a bit and only using what is required. Overall these pieces fit quite well.

And that's it for the driver's side. I attached the inner peice to the outer so it would not be in the wrong spot. I couldn't decide exactly where it went so I figured that was the best way. Got her all welded up and patina'd for now.

Today I have prepared the passenger side corner. I figured I would show a little more detail as to how I did these. I made marks on the body where my cuts were so I could use tape to line up with them. Then I cut along the tape (leaving extra material on the patch) and only required minimal sizing after that. Of course after practicing on the other side this one was much easier! Plus it wasn't as bad, the inner drip piece was still good so I didn't have as much clean up to do.

I got at the back of the trunk pan to tail panel today. The car really needs a tail panel but this one is ok for now. Definitely good enough to pass inspection. Now I have to figure where the fuel tank and spare tire mounts go.

I learned how thin the fuel tanks are on these old girls! Mine was dented so I used the stud puller to straighten it out. But not before melting one hole completely and pulling another stud right off. I carefully welded them shut, light tested them and for insurance smeared a layer of JB weld over the welds. Should be good to go. I removed the sending unit and could not pull or push air through it. I jammed a wire down the tube and filled it with carb cleaner. Eventually I cleared it and have full flow. Then I took it to the car and tested it. It works! :)

Well, that's it. I bet it has been a few years since this old girl could hold her own go juice! I saved the mounts off of what was left of the pan and cleaned them up. Drilled 8 holes and burned them in. The tank is now secure in place. MAYBE tomorrow she'll go for a drive without being bottle fed!

I ground down all the welds on the tail panel and in the trunk. I sprayed the trunk with black to protect them from rust and I will be using some fiberglass on the tail panel to smooth it up a bit.

Rear floor patch day today. The worst part of the whole floor was right behind the driver. The rest is really good. So I was going to get a piece from a donor car but I figured I could just build a couple patches. Here's the first patch installed.

Well that's it. The runner is a sealed unit now. No more non factory holes in her! Now I need a new windshield, front and rear window seals and it can be inspected.
