I'm finally far along enough to start a resto thread! I really want to thank evryone on this site-all the info that has been posted is incredibly helpful.

I grabbed this car off Ebay in sept 2011, from a seller in Joliet Illinois. It was ordered like a lot of MoPars back then- all go no show! 383, 4 speed, airgrabber,A31 axle package, not many creature comforts! It was raced, blown up, raced, blown up again, and parked in the late 70s. It basically bounced around a few garages before I grabbed it.
I had a stout 440 built for it- '68 HP .030 over, KB236 pistons, balanced rotating assembly. 906 heads were redone with stainless valves- 2.14 intake and 1.81 exhaust.
The cam is Comp Cams XE275 with .525 lift and 231 duration and 237 on the exhaust. I used a stock 69 cast iron intake; I didn't want issues with the airgrabber airbox. I know it is not as good as aftermarket, but this motor seems to run strong with it!

I installed the motor with rebuilt trans, fresh clutch, rebuilt rear with 3.91s and worke most of the bugs out. I then pulled the drivetrain and did most of the major metalwork. The car is currently at the media blaster, and will soon be at the painter's shop for body and paint!

Here are a few pics of the progress-

Here's a few more. I converted to a pistol grip shifter because of the 'cool factor'. This car is going bach to A4 silver with V21 hood stripes, black vinyl top and black inerior-the way it was born. It'll have 15X8 rear and 15X7 steelies painted body color. My goal is to look stock but drive better!

Cool beans. Silver/black is a good combo. You'll have to show us more pictures when you get a chance.

A4 is awsome! I had a pistol grip in my last one. loved it. great to see another runner project.

Awesome color combo!! Great looking Plymouth project Bill. Looking forward to more pic's and progress when they come along.

Awesome MoparBill I'm really looking forward to this thread. My Dad had a A4 69 RR which was more of a metal flake grey that year. Do you have any ref photo's of the shade you will be using?

Thats one of my favorite color combos, Great looking project, Good luck with your bird!

That will be a sharp looking color combo. Keep the pics. coming.

A4 silver / platinum - love it or hate it

I have heard that the A4 is rarer than black in 69 Runners. Some people love it, others hate it. We love ours.
We always joke that people probably wonder when we are going to paint our car since it is a rather dull tint of silver when done as factory.
This especially becomes clear if you are next to a "poppin" silver mercedes or dodge truck.
This one was originally a 383 "G" car but my bride wanted a bit more power.
We also matched the "WHOA!!!" pedal to the "GO!!" pedal by adding 4 wheel power disc brakes.
It got power steering at the same time.

We are planning on using this car for next year's charity raffle that will start September 1 2013 with only 5000 tickets.

This pic was at my niece's wedding. They were in a hurry to start their new life together. (it is actually me doing the burnout as she would not let her new husband take a chance of wrecking her uncle's car) Poor guy; he REALLY wanted to do it too.

Here's a pic from the blaster- once the bottom is blasted it'll go right to the painter to get started.

Looking forward to seeing this build! A4 Silver definitely seems super-rare, I never see it at shows here, not sure if I've even ever seen one in person, hahaa. Good luck!

Thanks Ghosty! I see you're from Thornton-my wife's sister lives there. We went there for a wedding a few years back-beautiful area.

Here's a few pics of the body parts after being blasted.

Here's a pic of the panels being shot with etch primer. The body/paint work is being done at a Ford dealership's collision shop. It's an awesome setup-they take one old car at a time; when a tech has a short day they can fill in their day working on the project car. I was told 6-8 weeks and I'll have it back! I have been on a waiting list for nearly a year.

That's pretty cool Ford will do that. Keeps their guys busy, income coming in and local customers serviced all while keeping their name out there. Pretty smart of Ford if you ask me. Looking good.

yeah the Mopar owners money is just as green as the Ford owners money is too...LOL... or Greener.... Good business practices

Here's another pic before it left the blaster. I hope to stop by the body shop tomorrow and get a few pics and check on progress.

Nice to see silver again!

I stopped by the shop this morning to take a few pics. The underside, passenger compartment, and inside the trunk are all painted. The car should be off the rotisserie and back on the ground monday or tuesday, and the doors and fenders will start being hung soon. I'm trying to get some suspension parts cleaned up and get most of the messy stuff done before the car comes back home.
