69 Roadrunner Resurrection

Sweet project! Good luck getting her done, hope it goes quicker than mine is goin . Ugh!

great project, it's gonna be sweet when it's done. mine's headed back to F8 someday, but for now I'm having fun with the primer.

Well after the first attempt to get T5 for the car was botched by the paint shop the second try was the charm in this case....cant wait to see it on the car, which should be in a few weeks!

After seeing a68postcars thread on the BEAUTIFUL F8 car he was doing I almost went back to the original color, but stood by my decision to go Bronze Fire Poly

Paint laid earlier this week - hoping to get to see the car over the weekend.

Reality is setting in on just how much $hit I have to get moving on now. Like Jesse James used to say, "All that's left is everything..."

the only pics I have are kinda small, sent from a cell phone...

Dude! I am diggin that color. Looks great, keep up the good work.

Great thread, really cool to have those original photos.

NICE paint job, looking forward to see the car come back together.

Your car looks great. Now the fun begins - putting it all back together. I just love the color you picked. Fresh 1969 T5 has been my absolute favorite color on RR's and Bee's for quite awhile now.

I think your looking at this all backwards, the metal work, bodywork and paint are the PITA....... It's go time after the paint is laid haha. Yes there's a lot to deal with from this point but this part of the build always seams to be allot more fun seeing all the little pieces add up and hearing it run again. She looks great, enjoy the build!

Well in a perfect world I would have had some of the sub assemblies ready to go - but the reality is that since the car is still sitting on its suspension both the rear and front need to get rebuilt, as well as the engine (still trying to figure out if I rebuild stock, modify existing, or go crate). The fact that I only have a single car garage already full of the other half of the car doesnt help, as a few friends are playing musical cars in my one friends 3-car garage.

It may take a little longer than I hoped, but when I have had the car since '89 whats a couple more months :)

Question about your 4 speed shift rods: where did you get those ? Doesn't look factory ?

I believe they were from Passion. the first set I got from Classic Industries were really crap and didnt seem to fit right, so went to the experts...

Can't believe it has been 2 years since posting about this...there has been some work done but not as much as I would have liked.

The car came back home last year - and since I have a one car garage / workshop it wasnt fitting in there. So...I bought a used enclosed trailer to put it in.

But before it went it I did remove the rear end and put it on the dollies (from US Car Tool). In hindsight I should have bought those while the car was at the body shop and removed the front and rear suspensions to begin work on those, but you know the saying about hindsight.

The car was then put in the trailer (pic is of my 5 year old "helping") for the winter - I hope to pull it out from hibernation in June and take the front end out to begin work.

After clearing out some space in the garage I have been able to work on some of the systems - recently completed the resto on the heater box. Unfortunately the new blower motor from NAPA was not a direct fit, and required making new slots in the mounting plate in order to get the vent tube to connect to the box correctly.

last year I had resto'd much of the instrument cluster - used Mr. heater box for the vinyl templates to redo all the gauges and odometer numbering, except for the tach, which I sent out to performance car graphics (I think?)

Redid the switch panel as well, using SEM Trim Black, and paint pens for the lettering (dont have a before shot, but I swapped out panels with a friend since mine had a defrost switch and I wasnt planning on putting that in, plus that panel was tweaked a bit).
