70 Hemi Superbird Restoration..................errr.....scratch that........

Sweet. Brick by brick. It was good to finally meet you at Dragweek. Maybe you should fill everyone in on how it went for you. I didn’t get to see any passes the Roadrunner made.

Yeah it was good meeting you as well. You guys did an awesome job on DW! I didn’t fare so well. I had been having all kinds of issues leading up to drag week with head gaskets and tune and had torn it down twice. Somehow, in between all that I managed to pull off a 5.75 1/8 mile pass that should have been good for high 8s at DW. Well, when reassembling the hemi the last time right before dragweek, I used some FelPro intake gaskets (all I had at the time) and I pinched the intake gasket at the four corners and that in turn, caused it to pull the heads up enough in the centers that it allowed coolant to weep into the valley and the oil pan. Milked the oil on day 1 of DW. I decided that opting out was better than destroying a $3000 crank and a $5,000 block, so on the trailer it went. I didn’t know what had happened until I pulled it apart after DW. You can see the green dye that was put in the cooling system. Once I removed the intake, the leak all but stopped. It’s back together now with no issues.

Thank you very much. We had our fare share of issues. We stood it on the bumper on the first pass. That was because i had no tune, hell it didn’t even run until the day we left California. Turns out the new motor makes a lot more power. Ran out of injector and the converter is too loose. But we had a blast! Long week. We pulled in at 2 am at the hotel and saw your car on the trailer and my heart sank. It was really cool to see your car out there. 5.75 is moving!

After blasting walk around

it’s currently in a friend’s paint booth for epoxy primer.

Bed liner going on underneath and the back of the firewall today. Then we’ll start on the engine bay. Can’t wait to get color on it.

I ordered twin 88mm turbos for this rig. My buddy runs twin 80s and his car is lighter lol

That is cool as heck. Pricey too for two of them! Ouch!!!

They should make 3000hp to the flywheel. The turbos are cheap compared to the EFI. The Dominator ECU with the 12” dash, all the wiring and the auxiliary injector driver, sensors, injectors and connectors is another 10k.
