`70 road runner, FC7, 383, 727 It`s waited long enough, finally time to get it done.

BTW - seeing the QTR you were provided is one reason I am only splicing the QTR bottoms. I'm noticing none of the replacement sheet metal I purchased for the back of my RR is creased very sharp at he corners. Looks like it was done in a vise versus a press. Everything is rounded. If you don't fix it before you fit it it will stick out like a sore thumb. it also changes where the corner is when you correct it. For as much as they charge, you would think they could at least make the panels square and tight. I've had parts from AMD Trunk pan, No name ebay Chineasium Drops and qtr bottoms and outer wheel house from Goodmark, same story.

Ya, unfortunately aftermarket sheet metal always need some massaging to fit and look nice, being a former auto body guy doing crash work I know the routine pretty well. I fixed the incorrect ribs in the AMD trunk floor because if I didn`t it would always bother me, most will never see it under the trunk mat nor would they ever notice they were incorrect if they did - just attention to details I ma trying to do.

After a bit of a summer hiatus I am back at the passenger side quarter panel. It's going to need the same massaging at the door gap and also the window channel but nothing a few minutes with hammer and dolly won't fix.

I still have a bit of tweaking to do to be happy with the quarter panel fit but decided I just have to start the welding or it will never be done. I left the trunk lid on as my gaps were good before cutting it apart so that made it easier to get good lines again. I started welding the bottom edge of the tail panel and once that is done I'll do final fit on the quarters.

Last big piece of sheet metal arrived, I'll start cutting out the old floor once I have the quarters welded on.

Quarter panel welding has begun! I'm still not 100% happy with the fit but I decided to just start welding and fit as I go. Trunk and door gaps are good, C-pillar is decent, problem areas are lower window channel and fit of end cap but I'll get them worked in. Once the drivers side is tacked all around I have one more fitting of the passenger and a little prep and I'll get that side tacked in.

Trying to fit the end cap but ended up having to pie cut along the top edge as there seemed to be too much material there, I wasn't thrilled about cutting it but it was the only way to make it right. I am happy with the lines and once it's all welded and metal finished it will be better than factory. Now on to the next area.

A little more done getting lines, you can see my expensive panel gap gage (a chunk of metal), shooting for 3/16". Door gap is done but I I have a little more work to do at the trunk lid/quarter/dutchman panel intersection.

Passenger quarter is close enough to start welding. The trunk gap is really good but the door gap and rear window/sail panel area need some "finessing". Clamp, hammer, weld, repeat.

Not much progress that shows in pics but I have been working on it. Clamps are hung back on the wall and I'm finally done with welding on quarters! After I get some epoxy on them I am going to start fixing the mess some previous owner made of the floor pan.

I’ve been doing the gaps on my car, as well. What a PITA!! Your gaps are looking really nice!

A little more progress, spare tire mount welded in, strips welded over the quarter/roof seam so there will be less filler, first coat of All Metal.

Mud work has begun! Ok I am jumping around a bit as I still have some work to do grinding welds down low. I have cleaned all the silicone off the rear glass but still need to drop it in place to check the fit before calling the channel areas good but figured I'd start some filler work. The seams and any welds are first covered in All Metal then regular body filler. The tail panel was caved in a bit around the lower middle area so hammered and dollyed and skimmed it, primer just as a visual check.

Finally found a decent rear bumper as mine was pretty bent up. I bolted it up so I could check the tail panel and lower quarter lines and I am pretty happy with them so mud work can continue and eventually primer some day.

Been a while since I updated but have been getting some work done, been busy with home projects, Chryslers at Carlisle etc.

Was going to wait till Monday but got motivated after seeing all the Mopars at Darling's show in Augusta Maine on Saturday and finished getting the quarters, rear window area, dutchman panel and jambs in epoxy today. Next job is cleaning up some spots on the inside of the trunk pan and getting epoxy on it, then I can start cutting out the front floor pan.
