So I've got a problem with my power steering ,wheel turning to the left on its own and builds pressure pushing fluid out the cap. My dad said he remembered this problem and said that you loosen the top valve bolts on the steering box and just tap it a little until it starts to go the other way. Well can't say I fixed it because of course something else went wrong the center carb float stuck flooding every where, gently tapping didn't make any difference, so had to shut it down. Now I have to repair the carb first. Arrrgh then the steering and then I can drive to the exhaust shop.
Well fixed the power steering, easy fix and the carb flotation came unstuck on its own! I have the exhaust scheduled for Tuesday and I blacked out my aluminum radiator, been bugging me. Also attached bumper loosely to try it out. I going to sell it anyway because I have a rechromed one being delivered to me at Carlisle Chrysler show.
Ok I have not been around for a while, so I took the car to get the exhaust done and decided since it was 15 miles and just back roads I'd drive there taking it slow because of 5:89 rear and straight longtube headers arrived fine. They said fire it up drive it onto the lift, hit the key nothing, thought battery was down so put jump box on and fired up on lift now let's get started. Well first the Pypes exhaust system wouldn't work out, because of tubs and shock locations. So had to leave it and go with custom setup, went back next evening to get car and brought my trailer. They said it was making a noise, sounded like fly wheel rubbing, didn't make it all the time. Exhaust sounds good, nice work, asked helper to watch me as I loaded, what a idiot kept waving forward then felt something stopped asked what it was he let me scrap bottom of passenger fender on trailer fender. Arrrgh!! 40 something and doesn't pay attention. Well got home unloaded, screeching started again, looked at flywheel nothing, decided to pull into garage oil pressure drops wiped bearing, I haven't had desire to even look into it until the other day. Heres where I'm at now.
Well remember I had the float stick ,I checked on the oil didn't think it was hurt but was wrong , what a stupid thing. Oh well I will check it out this week and see what I need to do.
Well got the engine tore down so far rod and mains, of course need to have crank turned, but everything else is ok . So new rings, gasket kit,and oil pump and then back together, still sucks but could have been worse.
Took crankshaft to LaSalle racing to get it turned, nice guys ,said 2 weeks and they have a good reputation. Hopefully back together and running well soon.
Well I have been trying to get ready for Carlisle, I want to take my car, put in some sound deadening in,removed rear differential, switching ring gear and pinion to a 3:70 ratio. I also got some thin sound deadening mat for the door and rear panels areas.
Well waiting on parts ,so did more insulation and then leveled the floors because of the 2 tubing that was put in to stiffen it up and laid carpet to let it conform. I also started to repair my heater box. Tired now. I forgot I installed the console brackets tacked them in and painted them.
So I have to wait for heater core to finish restoration of heater box so I, cleaned up the shop and organized some stuff. Then I installed my differential stand, so I can start working on it changing my ring gear and pinion from 4:55 to 3:70 ratio.
Well I installed the quarter windows, went well but because of the tubs they won't roll all the way down. I also put in front seat belts and console and drivers seat.
Got my engine assembled, probably get to put it on my run stand tomorrow, blocked off heat chambers on the heads ,cut a 3/16 plates and welded them in.
