70 Road Runner project

I just wanted to look at the idea that I have for my rr custom stripe so I taped it off and held the road runner emblem up front and then between tape I want to put a matte black swirling stripe on the side back to the scoop.

I'm going to mockup a fake stripe out of black paper to see if I like it

I also found someone to help me buff the car. And paint the hood stripe, he is willing to do it in my garage and said he would do it for $500 ! He's an old high-school buddy and works for a body shop and has a great reputation. He said he would do it in one day!

Ok I just had my tires mounted and balanced for my car and dumb me I hadn't seen my car in so long and ordered the wheels 5x4.5 bolt pattern and didn't think that the axle would have a chevy bolt pattern 5 x4 3/4 ,wheels are for sale on b bodies! Arrrgh. They look great, already reordered correct ones, front fits. They slide on because of the holes are for shoulder lugs but they can't work because they are not centered.

Will they take them back? Bought some wheels they warned if mounted no return.

For some reason I thought you had a Ford rear end. Chevy bolt pattern?
exactly my reasoning but it is a narrowed rear and for some reason the person who performed the rear end build put in a Chevy bolt pattern axles, maybe more choices of wheels?

I would just Re-drill the axle flanges to the 5x4-1/2" pattern. While you are at it drill for 5/8" dia studs depending how much power you plan on adding.

To late already reordered the wheels and they'll be here tomorrow, thanks for the info

Hey I went to check out my my new wheels as they came in today and I was down on my creeper and I noticed something, so I removed the rotor on the rear-end and what do you know, predrilled and threaded to move wheel studs to where ever I want duhhh! Returning new wheels.

Ok took a little time but my wheels are on, I switched the lugs and then tried to buy a new pair of rotors to match but nobody had them. So I looked at the back of the rotors and they were clearly marked from being bolted to the axle, so I drilled them and now they are on ! I also received some parts.

Got a few more little things done and the gaps evened out. Battery box bolted in ,kinda only the one bolt in the very front no other holes are available, I think previous owner welded them shut, planning on relocating the battery, if anyone has pictures of where the holes go would appreciate info.

Slow as a snail progress on my car,got the radiator in and a fan shroud I had laying around it fit, painted a 7 blade clutch fan that feels like it's good when I turn it by hand , but go to bolt it on ,holes are off 1/4 of a hole doesn't fit, so back up and punt . Cleaning up and installing regular 7 blade fan, installed transmission lines and spent hours and countless combinations of kick down rods to finally get a working combo ,just have to make sure fully opens the carburetor. Patched air grabber, still needs a little more caressing but that'll have to wait, really trying to get ready for a show in Cumberland md. This weekend coming, we'll see??? Here's a few more pictures of progress. I had to cut some rubber washers from a mud flap to space the radiator out from rubbing the radiator support.

Today was much easier on me, I got the drive shaft mocked up and put headlight buckets in, wired the starter, installed power steering pump and hoses, ground wire attached. Then I went to the interior scraped out dash insulation and put in sound deadening mat, won't have that nasty old dust from the insulation being toast. That's all. The car is really solid, very happy with it.

Running and moving! I was so busy trying to get ready for a car show that I didn't keep up with my progress on the car, but long story got it going enuff to load it on the trailer and then put around at the car show, open headers and no lights but had a blast as the 50th Street Rod roundup in Cumberland md is all about in progress rides. We had a blast ,they have burnout area, car jousting, and great food.
