Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum....I picked this up about year and a half ago, presently undergoing restoration after it failed the vehicle safety inspection miserably.... I will post more pics of the adventure....
Welcome and a great looking car, I like the 70's and have one my self. We really enjoy it and we have a 70 340 Swinger too. Why didn't it pass it looks pretty good? Good Luck Ronnie
Welcome. Nice looking RR. Damn shame when you make a purchase with the intent of enjoying it right away and then learn you are not going to be able to. Good luck on the retso, you are at the right place for virtually unlimited Mopar knowledge and support.
Thanks for the kind words everyone.... when I bought it, I didn't notice the rust hole in the transmission crossmember, or the hole in the rear frame rail. Live and learn I guess.....Anyhow, once I found that out, it changed the direction I was going on the car, so I put it in the garage and went to town on it, stripping it down. It was an "older restoration" I was told.... well whoever "restored it" needs some coaching on what not to do..... apparently any fastener will do was in vogue then ( about 20 years ago). I will post more pictures of the work I have done so far.
Welcome to the site. Sucks that the car was not in the condition that you thought it was. At least you ended up at a place where there are many restorations like yours going on if you have any questions - with a very good attitude about the whole thing I will add. One piece of the puzzle at a time and on to the next.
Hey what about some more pictures of that pretty blue car where is it at? Just kidding looks like you know what you are doing or are a fast learner. Nice work
Hi what color was the car photos on trailer look blue in the garage looks like purple are you going to take back to the fender tag color or another color your doing some real good work there if you can post up some photos of it before cutting replacing all the rusted areas for us we love our car **** thanks for sharing with us :headbang:
Hi snakeyes, yes the previous owner had it painted purple ( sorry for the quality of some photos). I haven't decided on a colour yet, the fender tag code is EB7. I will post more pics for everyone to peruse.

So here is why the crossmember had to be replaced....
Thanks 440+6... it's amazing some of the things you can find while doing a restoration.... I wasn't expecting the rockers to be this rough. No worries though, it just means a little bit more welding.....
