So, I jacked up the front of a car I purchased a couple of months ago for the first time to do a little front end work and I went to slide the jack stand in and BOOM, there it was, a torque box, just right there on the frame.
Obviously, it wasn't quite that must of a revelation, but I had already had the back of the car up in the air, and it does not have rear torque boxes. The car was a 383 car by VIN, and a 4 speed car by existing equipment (z bar pivot, pedals, 4 speed hump). The floor pan looks factory and the wear on the pivot is too extensive to have been converted in, oh say, the last 25 years. Documentation is non existent on the car, but the title, cowl, rad support and dash VIN all match up.
I have read a fair amount about '70 b-bodies and the E-bodies and their torque boxes being hit and miss on the V-Code cars. I did not find much info out there on the 71-74. My two U-Code R/T's both have front and rear torque boxes as does my V-Code, and on a 4 speed car is not that surprising. I suppose this post is more informational than inquisitive as it really makes no difference on this car.
