'71 RR resto project

A large truck showed up at the shop. I was waiting patiently for it almost like waiting for the "Stork" bringing a new born :D Anyway, I don't have pictures of the old engine that was in my car, least not a full picture of it. Since the motor wasn't original, I decided to build what I wanted, so here it is the first pictures.

Quick Fuel carb to sit on top of the mother. The motor is a 400 stroked to 470. Produced 585 HP and 610 torque on the dyno.

Air cleaner lid and same for the valve covers were powder coated. Should compliment the engine when done. Member "Cudachick" did these for me and for those who haven't used her powder coating services, consider it.

Thanks for the mention Rod! Your project was a fun one and makes for a great memory! Your air cleaner lid was my Cover Girl for the 2015 Powder **** Wall Calendar.

I got the motor unearth from it's crate that it came in and mounted it in the K. Used Mighty mounts to mount it. K was powder coated, no not like factory but like it so I stayed with it. Larger front sway bar than stock, front disc conversion from drums, rebuilt the original power steering box and installed it, tubular upper control arms. I contemplated with putting a Borgeson box in but figured this one was original to the car, just had it upgraded.

A sneak peek under the valve cover

Is that the US car tool dolly?

Yes. Sure did make my life easier when rolling it under the car. Only thing was in a couple of my pictures, there's carpet on the floor of the shop. Took some effort to roll the whole thing with engine tranny mounted. Bought it through word of mouth then sold it/past it on to someone else who needed one

Did you lift from the front only with the tires planted? How much clearance did you have rolling it under from the side?

I did it just like this. No tires on it at the time and I think we had the front raised up 4-5 feet. We used the rear end with tires on to pivot/rotate on them to get the front up. I had plenty of room side to side. Granted, I didn't have the exhaust on at this time (headers). Actually, I thought I sc****d myself for not doing that but even putting the exhaust on later, only took a short amount of time AND no issues. Pictures of headers will be posted later

That sure is one beautiful build. I hope mine looks that good when I'm done with it.

Thanks plymouthman. It sure has taken a long road to get it at this point but I've progressed it further since putting the whole front end in.

Good info! I always used a home made dolly setup. Works well and lower to the ground. I like the US car tool setup but was concerned about the height clearance. I just may consider using it...Thanks for the info and pics!
